  1. Looks like the 2nd post (quoted below) was a reply to the original post. MBAM scan doesn't show infection with Trojan.Dropper.BCM on my computer now and I left c:\Windows\system32\fsquirt.exe where it was.
  2. I found c:\Windows\system32\fsquirt.exe in my computer. Per MBAM, that's where Trojan.Dropper.BCM is. My copy was created in 2004 (this is an old machine) and there's no indication it was modified. I'll watch this thread but am thinking it's a false positive and will leave it in place for now.
  3. Went through steps 1-4 and successfully installed the free Version 1.44. Saved mbam-clean.exe for future use if needed. Thanks again.
  4. I'm running XP Home SP2 (x86) and Avast! It was a manual update check from the program tab. I use MBAM free (no license that I can find record of) and downloaded the new version last night from here rather than from the page you provided the link to. Won't be able to tell if the problem is corrected until the next new version is released. Does that make any difference in your instructions numbered 1-4? Will check back in a few hours when I have time to go through the process. Thanks for your time and attention.
  5. I had an issue with the internal updater for 1.43 which continues for 1.44. Can't upload graphics here, but the error message is displayed in my post at DSLR.
