Well, I think I may have found the solution. I found a plug-in / add-on in Firefox Options | Addons called Complitly and I disabled it. Later I got a message asking if I wanted to remove it. I said Yes and now it seems that Firefox is no longer waiting for widdit.com and installhit.com. See http://www.complitly.com/Faq.aspx#na4 . Spybot has a write up that I could not understand so I ignored it. I never got deep enough to know if they are trying to sell a removal tool. ?

Using XP SP3 and Firefox 16... (11/12/2012) When using firefox browser I noticed last week that the rotating circle in front of the web name in each tab continues to rotate after the page has loaded--the indication being something is still trying to load. At the bottom, left of the screen I see waiting for widdit.com, then waiting for installhit.com. Installhit is mainly what is keeping the rotating circle active. Yesterday's version of Malwarebytes found nothing. On avast's website if you enter widdit there is a thread. Widdit (username) claims that their software is benign and directs to their web page which he claims has removal instructions. It doesn't and using the provided link to see if it is on my computer claims it is not. Firefox lists no addins or extensions apart from what is normal for my firefox. Do Not Track is installed. It does not appear to be a problem with IE. I did not install this on my computer and would like to get rid of it. How?

I am very familiar with the above rootkit/virus. I have worked for several hours trying to get rid of it. True, it does install desktop icons for porntube.com, nudetube.com and youporn.com. A Google search turned up this: "Virut is uncleanable, along with the max++ rootkit there really is no other option except to do a complete format and reinstall of windows. This computer is damaged malwarewise beyond repair. The sad part also is that everything is infected on this system including all your programs, files and much more. A system repair wont work, it will just copy over all the infected items. This computer has to be formatted, I mean down to the bare metal and a clean install of windows." I have tried installing MBAM 1.43 but it will not run when installed. (I can get to the installation window where you click Finished and then it disappears-I believe it should run automatically at this point. It doesn't. I have looked for an .EXE in it's folder but there is no .EXE file. My question: Can MBAM 1.43 remove this crap? My only hope now is if I can install MBAM on a U3 flash drive (which I haven't learned how to do yet) and run it before being messed with. The computer is very slow, even when bringing up the desktop, and hangs after about five-ten minutes. I tried installing anti-Vir and it wouldn't run either. Oh, it's not my computer.
