This morning, Mbam tells me that the scan it ran overnight found two files (a .zip and an EXE inside it) infected with Backdoor.Quasar.
It seems a little odd because the files have been on my PC since March (about 8 months) and no previous scan has detected any issue with them. Nor I have recently extracted the .zip or run the contained EXE (modified date is about a year ago), so something else would have had to infect these already existing files, as opposed to downloading already-infected files - does that make sense?
Anyway, when I run a scan now, Mbam finds nothing, even if I specifically scan the .zip file. (I haven't quarantined the files yet.) Also, a McAfee scan shows no virus either.
I dunno how much it matters, but the files themselves are from a publisher I trust - proprietary files of my one of my clients.
I'm attaching a couple of files here, in case it's helpful.
Scan log.txt is the result of my current / clean Mbam scan, specifically targeting the .zip file.
Scan report.txt is a report from when the two files were detected overnight.
What (if anything) should I do?
Thanks!
