It would be great if Malwarebytes came out with a file shredder to go with their Anti-Malware solution. I find that I have to run a separate application like Clean my Max X for a file-shredder. There is no merit in running two different applications when one application could do both. Equally it would be great if Malwarebytes did a program uninstaller as this would be a lifesaver for applications that do not have a dedicated uninstaller.

Browser guard does not display a splashscreen to show the website is blocked it just says the page cannot be displayed.

@treed - Any updates on what new stuff is coming to Mac? My subscription is coming up for renewal next month, there is no detection for Windows based malware, there is no file shredder, there is no support for specific drive scanning or full scans that go through every aspect of the system, it seems like the Mac version is lacking functionality and I will likely not renew as there is more feature rich software out there. Bitdefender can block sites and display a splash screen to say its been blocked but Malwarebytes cannot do this. It would be really handy to know what is coming up soon.

That's a shame, it would have been nice to know what is on the road map

Hi, Having a look at re-evaluating my AV and Anti-Malware solution and I'm finding that Malwarebytes lacks some Windows features and basic functionality like drive scanning, USB External HDD etc. I was wondering what uncommon functionality is in the pipeline for Mac users as we seem to not get the same features as Windows. This is of course due to a different type of landscape compared to Windows however, some of us feel/need additional functionality. Anything MWB can share about upcoming functionality for Mac users?
-
Thanks @treed On another note are you able to share what requirements / enhancements are Mac roadmap. It would be nice to understand what new functionality is potentially arriving?!

Checked out a few applications today, none of which fully uninstall system extensions which is annoying. I resulted in backing everything up and installing a fresh copy of Mac OS which I needed to do anyway. Thanks for the suggestions anyways.

Funny enough, this is kind of Bourne out of that fact I uninstalled Trend Micro using their own uninstaller and their com.trendmicro.icore.es process is still running on my machine. Apparently I do not have the permissions to delete their system extension from my HDD. Mental!

Sorry @alvarnell I don't mean the specific Malwarebytes uninstaller, I am aware this exists, what I mean is a dedicated Malwarebytes program that allows me to uninstall other applications on my machine. Just like how Clean My Mac X works, Zapper and a few others. I understand the App Store logic however, most applications are not on the App Store due to Apples policies. Kind of like how Malwarebytes, Kaspersky, Trend Micro ect are not on the App store.

Hi. Not sure if this is on your roadmap, but it would be great if you guys had an application that uninstalls applications and all their left over files on Mac OS. Having to revert to Clean My Mac X and Trend Micro Cleaner One Pro is annoying. I would pay good money for a decent application made by Malwarebytes.

Also not to be too picky but the Browser Guard logo is a little bigger than the other application's logo's.

Thanks for your comments @treed. I am using the latest version of Safari on my M1 MacBook Pro (Version 15.0 (16612.1.29.41.4, 16612) and can catagorically say that their traffic light extension is working correctly on Safari. I downloaded the free trial shortly before using posting my last comments as I was seeing what else is available out there. As you say I should imagine it is being run through a custom DNS or VPN as when the page is blocked I am redirected to Bitdefender sites with the last URL slapped on the page. I better customer experience in my opinion but it's not really your fault more Apples for making it rather restrictive. There are other offerings available to end users such as myself however, I have found they either suck resources or are buggy. Malwarebytes Premium & Malwarebytes Privacy has been a good experience so far so cannot complain to much plus my work approve of the platform so even more happy.

@treed Thank you for your response. I totally agree with you in regards to the user experience side it’s not great. What I am struggling to understand is given your comments how “Safari extensions actually have absolutely no visibility into whether anything has been blocked, and thus cannot show anything. What Safari will show you is exactly what you're seeing” Bitdefenders & Kasperskys equivalent product is able to show you a “blocked website” splash screen yet Malwarebytes is not able to do so.

Thanks @1PW & @gatortail. Any ideas when this might be resolved?
-
Also http://ucdsoccer.com has the same Safari message

Thanks for getting back to me @1PW. Please see above answers to your questions. Source of suspicious URL's - https://db.aa419.org/fakebankslist.php

Just to be clear this is happening on all sites not just the one listed above. I also note the above site has now been whitelisted.

Hi, Just downloaded Browser Guard for Mac and tried to visit a site that I know was blocked however, I didn't get a Malwarebytes splash screen prompting me to navigate away from the site. Anyone have any ideas why this might be doing this? Thanks in advance.

I have been suspecting an issue with Browser Guard on my Mac not working. Visited www.ferrobackup.com to see if it would block the site bit I didn't get any prompts just the page could not be visited. Any ideas?

@alvarnell That's helpful to know regarding setting up two different AV programs and the potential complications. It certainly sounds like our needs are somewhat different from the average Mac user as you say. To be honest I am not going to get rid of Malwarebytes as I like that it is lightweight, easy to use and doesn't really bother me. On the other hand I would like it to be like a rabid dog on steroids when I need / want it to. Seems like there might be some development on functionality in the next couple of years so I'll just be mindful for now. Appreciate your comments.

@treed - Thank you for your response. I appreciate your comments about Mac AV's being ports of Windows based clients. I think this is cultural thing where most users are expecting to see a quick scan & a full scan option. As an end user who uses both Mac and Windows machines, I think it would be really useful to have the application conduct full scans and detecting windows based malware. Using an external HDD, it would be nice to feel safe that two different machines are on the look out if you know what I mean. Of course flexibility is key, something that is really annoying for end users is not having the ability to turn features off and one based on preferences. Likewise when it comes to turning off features, it's rather frustrating when say you disable a browser extension an the application just wants to display a big red X and say constantly you are not safe because you have not got every single option turned on. To be honest I went with Malwarebytes based on online reviews and comment from Apple support directly, largely I have found it been great and lightweight but it doesn't sit right with me (paranoid) that I am not able to do full scans for piece of mind. Do you think in the future you will offer drag and drop file scanning, full scans, quick scans? It would also be nice to see some stats around what is happening in the AV world such as: https://cybermap.kaspersky.com/
-
Shame. I find it hard to comprehend how a product can be so different on one platform to another. i.e Windows vs Mac. I think I will be looking for another AV.
-
It would be great if Malwarebytes could do specific files / folder scans, deep scans and quick scans. I find every other AV program apart from Malwarebytes offers this functionaily. Is this on the roadmap to develop?

Is there a way I can get Malwarebytes for mac 10.11.6?
