  1. Re my post just now - I was on Firefox 53.0.3 (64-bit) when I posted, now updated to Firefox 54. I will repost if this has any affect. I am on Windows 10.
  2. MWB 3 identifies PUP.Optional.Spigot as malware (or a PUP) everyday, even if I quarantine it. The file is located at C:\Users\Jon\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\yijbwobi.default\prefs.js If I delete it, the file is recreated by Firefox, and MWB identifies it again. Any ideas on: 1. Is it a problem? 2. If so - how do I get rid of it permanently, if not - how can I stop MWB identifying it every day? I am attaching the file with txt extension added. Maybe there is some text I can delete that will convince MWB that it is not a problem. Thanks prefs.js.txt
  3. MWB identifies winzip malware protector as a PUP, which it may be, but I am not inclined to delete at present. Annoyingly it comes up every day on the MWB scan, and I cannot immediately find any way to tell MWB to ignore the program. Ideas on preventing it finding the program or ignoring it will be welcome. Or maybe MWB does consider it to be a UP. Thanks. MWB Anti-malware premium on Windows 8.1 WZMP MWB log.txt
  4. Both Malwarebytes and F-Secure have suddenly decided that they don't like WZMP classing it as a possibly unwanted program. But neither give any reason. Ideas anyone?
  5. Ok daledoc - no need to repost as it is working. But please note that this thread came up second on a Bing search for "malwarebytes anti-malware has stopped working" the message we get. The top ranked result is irrelevant as it refers to a search that stops in the middle. But thanks for advice. I will look at the date on the thread before my next post!
  6. I guess I will add a bit more to my post above. Pity you can't edit. I was concerned about MWB failing to load ("MWB has stopped working" - the nasty window in Win8), as I thought it was very likely caused by a virus or malware. However I ran ESET, Spybot and my regular F-Secure scan all of which tested clean. However until I could get MWB running, I could not be sure. So I am posting this in case others are in a similar position to me. There was obviously something lurking in my registry that stopped the program running, and that even a full uninstall using Revo Unistaller could not remove. However <mbam-clean-2.1.1.1001.exe> got rid of whatever it was in about 2 seconds. See second post on this thread - Noknojon.
  7. Excellent Noknojon - have been trying to get MWB working for a week. It wouldn't even load. I uninstalled using Revo, but no difference. The MWB clean file you suggested obviously got rid of whatever was blocking it as my new install worked first time. Thanks
  8. 1PW's reply is probably useful for some. But there may be a simpler way. I was unable to update (version 1.50 running on W7Pro). However, before following 1PW's advice, I downloaded version 1.51 and installed it over the top of 1.50. It then ran fine and updated ok. I have a feeling that it was my antivirus software that may have been the problem (F-Secure) as the Mbam scan found no problems. Anyway - a much simpler approach to solving the problem. Worth a try first. No need to uninstall or restart.
