I'm really confused now. I tested the latest version of Browser Guard (v1.0.5) on my M1 MacMini with 16gb memory and Monterey, using the following links: https://keepass.com/ http://maliciouswebsitetest.com/ https://www.towelrootapk.net/ https://warezcrack.net/ None of the above are blocked by Browser Guard in Safari, but all are blocked in the Edge/Firefox version of Browser Guard. Can you explain why there is a difference?

With the latest database fix, it does appear that the Malware and Scan indicators have been corrected. Unfortunately, nothing is blocked for me except the ads and trackers. I tested with both "keepass.com" and "maliciouswebsitetest.com", and neither was blocked. Before testing, I removed all other extensions and also updated to MacOS Monterey. I'm running a MacBook Air M1 with 8GB memory. I have decades of C/C++ programming experience, so I'm plenty careful on how I evaluate software. A few pertinent screen shots are captioned below.

I have 8 GB in my MacBook Air M1 with the latest BigSur. I removed most of the running apps from my Mac before re-installing Browser Guard. I did retain Malwarebytes Premium. When running Safari with Browser Guard, the total memory used will stay below 6 GB. For testing purposes, I completely removed Browser Guard (included the BG references in the Containers folder), re-started the Mac, cleared Safari cache, re-installed Browser Guard, checked the 5 Browser Guard extensions in Safari preferences, and finally ran my "Keepass.com" test in Safari. In every instance, Keepass.com was not blocked per the attached screenshot (Keepass.png), with the "circle" indicator showing for the "Scams" button. If I played around with the system, like force-quitting Browser Guard or disabling-enabling the 5 Browser Guard extensions in Safari, I could eventually get Browser Guard to block "Keepass.com". Eventually something else would fail to block again, including my url test for "maliciouswebsite.com" (see attached TestSite.png).

Having the exact same problem on my MacBook Air M1. Scam blocker is not loading.

I also noticed that wicar.org is no longer blocked, but this site is not blocked in the Edge version of Browser Guard either. So, I suppose this is intentional on the part of Malwarebytes.

Version 1.0.1 is now working great for ad blocking and url blocking, except for one issue. As a retired programmer, I spend most of my day surfing the net, starting and stopping safari multiple times per day. Every now and again, I've noticed that Browser Guard will stop blocking either the urls or the ads. To correct this, I launch the Browser Guard app, click the Preferences button, uncheck and recheck the Browser Guard extension in Safari, and then close/restart everything. This usually re-enables all of the blocking. To further track/test this, I have rigged Safari to launch 2 websites at start-up, with one of the sites being a url that Browser Guard normally blocks. If the offending url is not blocked, I know it's time to run my kluge to re-enable things. Anyone else seeing this anomaly?

This morning, I checked the "towelroot" and "wicar" sites, and the Safari Browser Guard is now blocking identical to the Windows version. This corrects all the items from my original issue. Many thanks for responding so quickly!

Hey, The issue I reported above, where the Amazon logon was blocked, now appears to be working properly. I'm guessing that your update service corrected the blocking list? In any case, thanks much for the correction.

Thanks so very much for looking at these issues! I did a thorough browsing thru my 60+ favorite sites, and found one more issue. When I attempt to logon to my Amazon account, the link is blocked by Browser Guard per the attached screen shot. If I disable the content blocker in the Safari settings for this specific site, everything works normally.

I can certainly appreciate the limitations imposed by Apple, but I'm still confused on two issues: Firstly, Browser Guard is blocking "keepass.com" in both the Safari and Edge versions of your extension, and the Edge block indicates "Website blocked due to reputation". So, this is a bit inconsistent with your statement that "Reputation blocks" are not possible in Safari. I noticed this because I use the "keepass.com" site to routinely validate my virus software. Secondly, the Edge version of Browser Guard blocks "towelrootapk.net" with the message "Website blocked due to trojan", whereas the Safari Browser Guard does not block this site. Is the "trojan" validation also a limitation imposed by Apple, similar to the "reputation" block?

Thanks for the feedback. I would agree that these sites are blocked in the Windows version of browser guard (but not the Safari version). I routinely clear browser cache in the Edge settings on my Mac, so I don't believe it's a cache issue. I'm still puzzled by the block of "Techrepublic" in the Windows version, as this url gets a clean bill of health in "virustotal.com", and I've used this site multiple times in the past.

Hi, Whenever I install a new extension, I usually compare the behavior between Safari and Edge (if possible). I recently installed the new Browser Guard extension for Safari on a MacBook Air M1. When I compared the url blocking between Safari and Edge (M1 version), I noticed the following sites were blocked by Browser Guard on Edge but not Safari: https://www.towelrootapk.net/ https://www.wicar.org/ https://www.techrepublic.com/ Is there any reason why the blocking lists should be different between the two browsers? I was also surprised that the Edge version of Browser Guard was blocking the "techrepublic" website. Is this a mistake? I don't believe you were blocking this site previously. I just happened to visit this site while using Edge on my Mac, and the site was blocked. Otherwise, I'm thrilled that Malwarebytes now provides a Safari version of Browser Guard! I now feel safe using Safari as my primary browser on Mac.
