  1. hello,

i got 2 detections from malwarebytes just a little bit ago, two .EXEs in a Twitch appdata folder. I haven't used the twitch app before. i quarantined and had the files removed just to be safe. just wondering if this is a false positive. i haven't installed anything lately. please let me know if you need the log file.  thanks.

    Yes Webroot is installed.

You also did not turn off fast start as I requested. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4189-turn-off-fast-startup-windows-10-a.html

Please restart after you have done the above.

It is real late here for me. I will cheek on you tomorrow.

sorry for not doing that earlier, i just assumed it was optional. i've turned off fast start and i'll restart the computer before i go to bed tonight, just gotta finish some things. thank you for all your help, have a good rest.

Unless the computer is both on and AWAKE that scan will not run until you wake the computer.

Also did you change any of the other scan settings other than the time?

i know it won't run unless the computer is on, my computer has been on and awake since before midnight. i don't have a great sleeping schedule lol
as for changing any other scan settings, no i don't think i did, i'm pretty sure all i changed was the time.

If other issues come up, please feel free to post.

    Glad to assist.

well, unfortunately, i had another problem. i always set the daily scans to run at midnight, but when midnight came this time malwarebytes just froze up and wouldn't respond. the window is on my taskbar but won't open every time i try to open it, and it won't close either. i'm pretty sure my actions before only made the situation worse, so i'd rather wait to do anything before trying the support tool or restarting. any advice? thank you in advance, sorry for all the trouble.

Because of Webroot, I suggest you also do the following.

I would recommend creating exclusions between Malwarebytes and Your AV to help prevent any possible conflicts or performance issues.  Please add the items listed in this support article to Your AV 's allow list(s)/trust list(s)/exclusion list(s) particularly for any of its real-time protection components and likewise add Your AV 's program folder(s) (likely located under C:\Program Files and/or C:\Program Files (x86)) to Malwarebytes' Allow List using the method described under the Allow a file or folder section of this support article and do the same for its primary data folder which is likely located under C:\ProgramData (you may need to show hidden files and folders to see it).

hey, sorry for taking so long to get back. long story short, i uninstalled webroot just because i had a feeling it was going to cause more problems and it was never really that reliable. i trust malwarebytes more. anyways, i'm pretty sure everything is over and done with, my only remaining concern is something to do with windows defender (sorry for getting so off topic). i've done a scan with malwarebytes two times now since it's been reinstalled onto my computer and no threats were detected, but windows defender still says actions in threats and scans are recommended for it. this message showed up when i had a problem with malwarebytes before and it reinstalled, but that message went away when i did my first scan since reinstall. so i guess this is just a visual error, but is there any way to make it go away? thank you for all your help, i really appreciate it and i'm glad to be done with this little problem. (for the most part)

Do you have a license to activate?

yes, i just put it in and went ahead with installing malwarebytes. so i guess webroot didn't open by itself so that malwarebytes could go ahead and reinstall? i don't completely understand, but i'm running a scan now and if any threats are detected i'll let that be known. is it best to restart my computer again after the scan is done? thank you for all your help by the way

  7. well, that might not be necessary. i restarted my computer, and, wouldn't you know, malwarebytes showed up. if all i had to do was restart my computer i feel rather silly. also, i just wanted to add that, when i go to the tray at the bottom of my screen that has all the icons, webroot isn't showing up like it usually does so i'm really confused right now. i didn't disable it or anything, it's just not there by itself. should i be worried that this is a fake malwarebytes that showed up? sorry i'm just a little bit overwhelmed right now.

  8. hello, i had a problem with malwarebytes about 5 days back and am only making this thread now since no one has yet to get back to my support ticket.
what happened was, i went to update malwarebytes manually in the settings, and when it was done updating i did it again just to be sure. it stayed on the "installing" message for a long while, and i assumed it was an error since i know it doesn't take that long so i just restarted my computer. this was a bad idea because it didn't fix anything and now malwarebytes just wouldn't open, but it was still there on my computer. so i went to the support tool so i could see if that would fix it, and it got all the way to after uninstalling malwarebytes and reinstalling it until the reinstallation was suddenly cancelled. i tried it again, this time being more specific with my problem, same result, the reinstallation was cancelled. i then created the support ticket and waited for somebody to get back to me but obviously that didn't happen lol. today i tried uninstaling and reinstalling in the support tool one more time, and same result.

the obvious question to ask is if this is due to malware but the two other antiviruses i have on my computer, windows defender and webroot (both just came with the computer when i bought it) didn't detect anything when i tried scanning. so i'm not really sure what the problem is, but any help is appreciated.

also, yes i know i need to open the support tool and press the option that gathers logs but it's taking a little while so i'll post that here when it's done. thank you in advance for any help
