I'm using UVI Portal (it's a installer/downloader from UVI) to download and manage my audio products from UVI.
I'm getting these messages from Malware Bytes that it has blocked a website with a trojan (see attachments). Malware Bytes Export.txt
A similar issue is described in this thread from Malware Bytes forum: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/259296-uvi-portal-going-out-to-trojan-website-blocked/
I have contacted support from UVI. They state that it's due to the torrent protocol they use to download, and that a user who is seeding must also be seeing an infected file. They also claim that I am at no risk because UVI portal checks for file integrity before installing.
However, I'm getting these blocked trojan messages when I'm simply opening UVI Portal and have it running without downloading anything. The program should just be idle waiting for me to use it to download and install a UVI product, but I'm getting these messages anyways.
Can someone explain to me why this might be happening and if I am at any risk?
UVI support assures me that there is no risk, but I don't understand why UVI Portal is trying to access these IPs and what it would gain if the connection was made. Also, would there be any risk if connection was made?
I hope someone can help, because right now I don't feel safe using UVI.
All programs are legally bought and installed from the vendors, of course.
