RootKit.Goldun -MBAM protection module went crazy
Raid replied to leofelix's topic in File Detections
Hi There. Do you remember any of the filenames the PM module flagged as being infected by Goldun? -
HAHAHAHAHA.. Yes! And Nosirahh occasionally has to crack the whip.. lol
-
If you or anyone else chooses to use one of them, You do so with the following understandings: 1. We didn't write it, We have nothing to do with it; No support whatsoever from us. 2. If it messes up your computer, see 1 above. 3. These portable things are released against our wishes and do not enable full functionality of the software, no matter what the poster of the portable app claims. If those are acceptable terms, then feel free.

Hi Blaster, Would you please try following the instructions swandog posted and let me know if it fixes your issue?
-
Yes... I know... my slavery is for the better good. umm.. that or something.. heh...
-
I usually do too... Ah well, I have work to be doing in the lab deep in the dark pits... so if you'll xcuse me..
-
Not that I know of. No. We've always strived for the fastest speed vs reliability that we can.

I've got that much potential space on one HD. <G> I will have to buy more blank dvd-r's soon tho, the malware archive is getting rather large.
-
Thank you, I will report back my findings. Please let me know when you have completed the upload.

If you'd lilke to submit it to http://uploads.malwarebytes.org, I'd be happy to take a look. We have a policy in place that prevents us from offering assistance to known pirates. Sorry.

Raid replied to CornOnTheCob's topic in Resolved Malware Removal Logs
Hi there, Would you like someone to assist you with a full "clean your system" or do you feel that your ok and would like the thread deleted/closed? -
Glad we could help.
-
Your very welcome. Thanks for taking the time to let us know how were doing.
-
Are you sure you were using our program? A quick scan should finish in a matter of minutes, unless you have an older machine. A full scan on the other hand can take awhile. MBAM creates a log everytime it performs a scan... Please send whatever log(s) you do have and we can go from there.
-
From an operational standpoint, it's not necessary. However, a full scan is good for those times if your concerned that orphaned malware is still present on your computer. Orphaned meaning nothing is pointing to the file anymore and it's not being executed, but it's still on the hard disk posing slight risk. (IE: short of you clicking on it to run it on purpose, it's dead). A full scan allows MBAM to clean up the corpses, so to speak. There's no need to do so. MBAM is a smart scanner and can tell the difference between executable programs and data files.
-
Hi lonewolf. No executables should reside in your root folder. Please try moving it to another location and scan again.

Why do I need to use Revo Uninstaller
Raid replied to a topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
It's never a good idea to suggest manual editing of the registry if you don't know the users skill level. Better to leave the key. And as I said, the key is left behind in the event you wish to reinstall; You won't have to re-enter your registration information. -
Why do I need to use Revo Uninstaller
Raid replied to a topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
A registry key is left behind which isn't removed by our cleanup tool; As we don't know if you want to reinstall later or not, and we'd rather not inconvenience you if that's the case. -
Malwarebytes - Protection feature
Raid replied to Tidth's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Hello! The resident protection module offers realtime protection against all malware presently known to our software. It also enables automatic scanning and automatic update downloads; all listed under the Scheduler which is available under the Protection tab. As files are opened for access either by you or another application, our resident protection module has a look at the file first, and if it's known to be malware it will be stopped from executing or otherwise opening the file. -
Okay.. We've beaten the horse to death. For obvious reasons (to some of us anyway) A PE environment would do more harm than good. I am now closing this pointless thread.
