  1. Nice Catch. I did not think to run AdwCleaner and it found a couple of additional PUPs. But, this post was originally about the behavior of the scan being interrupted and jumping to the end of the normal process. Which even AdwCleaner followed the normal process as outlined in my above post.
  2. I have uploaded the requested log file. I do not require assistance removing the malware - the machine comes back clean at this point. I was curious about the reboot request without selecting actions to be taken. Please move this post back where I originally posted it. mbst-grab-results.zip
  3. In the many years (decades) of IT work I have never had a AV/Malware removal product prompt for a reboot while still in the detection phase of a scan. Generally you have a removal phase after detections are complete. Finally reboots are generally needed to complete the removal. The reboot prompt during the detection phase made me think that something was amiss. Every product I have used generally has 6 phases: Set Options, Detection Scan, Prompt for Action (unless automatic actions are set in Options), Removal (with possible reboot), Verify, and Report Results. I will gather logs as soon as I can.
  4. I experienced an odd behavior during a scan of an infected machine. While scanning (and finding thousands of threats - mostly PUPs but at least one Trojan) I would be prompted that to continue to remove the malware I needed to reboot. This is normal after the scan is completed, you are prompted with what to do with threats found, and finally selected actions are compleated. But this prompt came up before the scan finished. If the system is rebooted the scan is essentially ended before any action is taken on the threats. If scan was restarted it would find the same threats in the same locations as before. Is this something that others have see before?
