I'm pretty green at this stuff, so bear with me. I just installed Windows 7 Home Premium on a fresh drive after my Vista Ultimate (!!) drive crashed. I installed Malwarebytes and started noticing the occasional pop-up telling me this IP or another had been "successfully blocked." Now I'm noticing that every single time I open a new tab in IE 8, after about 15 seconds or so, I get the same popup warning saying the same IP: 68.178.232.99 has been successfully blocked. It's kind of a minor annoyance, but now I'm wondering is there some piece of malware on my machine that keeps trying to let this IP "in"? I don't have a clue. I can't say for sure, but this MAY have started when I thought this warning was being generated when I tried to access a website I was SURE was OK, so I put it in IGNORE list. When I saw the website, it didn't look particularly malicioius, but it WAS NOT what I thought it would be, so I removed it from the ignore list and now I get these constant messages. Here is a snippet of a log file: 21:14:34 STP IP-BLOCK 68.178.232.99 21:14:54 STP IP-BLOCK 68.178.232.99 21:14:54 STP IP-BLOCK 68.178.232.99 21:15:04 STP IP-BLOCK 68.178.232.99 21:15:25 STP IP-BLOCK 68.178.232.99 21:15:25 STP IP-BLOCK 68.178.232.99 21:15:35 STP IP-BLOCK 68.178.232.99 21:15:55 STP IP-BLOCK 68.178.232.99 21:15:55 STP IP-BLOCK 68.178.232.99 21:16:05 STP IP-BLOCK 68.178.232.99 As you can see this goes on ad infinitum, and seems to be triggered whenever I open a NEW TAB in IE, as mentioned. Any help or pointers much appreciated. Best regards, Stephen Porter
