  1. I'm talking about BEHAVIOR based protection. I know mbam pro has real time protection, and I have it. But TF doesnt work like that. It monitor BEHAVIORS For example, if an application trying to connect to internet in the unexpected manner, TF temporarily blocks it tells you that this is a typical for a trojan behavior, and prompts you what you wanna do: let it though or block it. Now you see what I'm talking about?
  2. Yes, but it also shows here http://www.threatfire.com/ that it works great with other antivirus solutions. Granted, it would be more effective with Spyware Doctor, but hey, I chose mbam. And since mbam (correct me if I'm wrong) doesnt have the "Real-time behavior-based protection", I dont see why it would be surplus to have TF as another layer of protection. I also have G Data AV and Immunet AV running along everything else. I'm gonna put it in the signature, sorry
  3. That was quite impressive! However, Threafire is not a scan based av. It monitors application behaviours and acts if it notices anything suspicious. Maybe it would even work for those those that mbam missed in this video? Dont get me wrong, I'm not an expert. But isn't it handy to have a program that monitors behaviors, along side with programs that depend on their virus/malware database?
  4. Yes, well, this is exactly why I'm not so sure that I dont need it when I have mbam. TF is kind of like a missing link to the typical anti-malware/virus solutions and zero day threats. But i sure would remove it if mbam had a similar behavioral detection
  5. Alrighty! I figured out what was causing the slowdown on my computer! It was PC Tools Threatfire http://www.threatfire.com/ It also has some issues with Alcohol 52% (cant install it or run it properly while Thretfire is turned on). Another thing to consider: I had Threatfire long before the new mbam came out. So it would be nice someone could look into this... Threatfire is very useful, and I don't want to give it up that easily Hope this helps!
  6. Ok, i frequently store images of my system disk, so I'm gonna try removing EVERY protection program I have. I'll let you know how it went!
  7. Buuut... how come i never had to exclude it for previous versions?
  8. Hi everyone.. I'm having same problems with the latest version. I'd like to say that I excluded every file that was mentioned (including directories just to be certain), and although there is SLIGHT improvement (or maybe it only seems like that), mbam service is still slowing down my computer drastically. I'm using Win7 x64, G-Data antivirus 2010 and Immunet. I set the exclusions in both programs. Hope you fix this soon...
  9. What do you mean? I dunno, but it is working... I tested it with hosts on and off. I can clearly see empty boxes on some websites where adds used to be, now with those firefox generic messages. Why do you think 0.0.0.0 wont block any sites?
  10. Woooow, you wouldnt believe it, but changing 127.0.0.0 to 0.0.0.0 made it good again! I just did that and restarted Firefox! Works like a charm Once again, thanks for all the help. Really appreciate it.
  11. PeerBlock is a PeerGuardian successor.. Works by adding ip ranges to the list, to allow or block them. Thanks for all the help youve been a great help!
  12. Glad to be of at least some use here :-) I have a few more questions tho... I'm not as experienced with this as you are. 1. I cant find MDL blacklist.. could you please post me a link here? 2. I also use PeerBlock along with HostsMan... Is this a good practice? Does it make sense to use them both? 3. Are you using 127.0.0.1 or 0.0.0.0? Maybe this would answer why its faster on your pc... Which is better btw?
  13. Thanks man! Well, for some reason Mikes Ad blocking hosts doesnt work here... It says this is the link http://www.everythingisnt.com/hosts but it doesnt really seem to be it. Is this the same address in your list?
  14. Sorry, haha, I though I missed the forum section. May the all powerful admins forgive me, and move it where it belongs to if they so wish kidding. Anyways, ya, I have it turned on too.. Thats strange. Would you please try browsing a little, finding a website that you find loads kinda slowish, and try going to it with a standard hosts file? I really wonder is it just me here, or what. It might as well be my antivirus or something else. Gonna have to experiment a little... And gosh, how did you get it so big hahaha. What sources are you using, aside from the available 4 (1 doesnt work here)?
