Yesterday, I ran a full scan. The Malwarebytes I'm using is Malwarebytes Free, version 4.1.2.73, component package version 1.0.1003, and update package version 1.0.28451.
The file that was detected was in the path:
C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService\tmp\GoogleUpdateSetup.exe-u.mbam
It was detected as Spyware.RedLineStealer
I have seen other forum posts regarding this, but others found GoogleUpdateSetup.exe with Malwarebytes for business (such as Endpoint). Also, there is "-u.mbam" at the end of the file name. Another discrepancy is that this was found in the Malwarebytes folder instead of Chrome or other Google-related products.
Before taking any action with the file, I went to check the path. When I opened the folder that was supposed to contain the file, the file was not there. This may be due to the fact that it was in the temp folder.
Is this a false positive like all other forum posts suggest?
