  1. We’re pleased to announce the release of Malwarebytes for Mac 5.7.1, bringing back a much-requested feature based on your feedback! Features and Improvements: Hide application icon setting: The option to hide the Malwarebytes icon from your mac status menu bar has returned! You can find it in the General settings tab. Issues Fixed: Manual update confirmation: Fixed an issue where a new version would install automatically when checking for updates, even with automatic updates turned off. Now, you’ll be prompted to confirm before the update installs. Thank you for your feedback, and please keep the suggestions coming! The update will be gradually served to all users and can be downloaded directly from our page Malwarebytes for Mac download or by checking for updates manually via Malwarebytes menu -> Check for updates. If you're running Malwarebytes 5.4.1 or earlier, we recommend downloading and installing the latest version directly from our website.

  2. Hello Mac community, We’re excited to announce a new Malwarebytes for Mac Beta update 5.7.1 based on your feedback! Many of you have asked for the ability to hide the Malwarebytes icon in the menu bar, and we’ve brought it back. Features and Improvements: Hide application icon setting: We’ve reintroduced the option to hide the Malwarebytes icon from your Mac menu bar. You can find it in the General settings tab. Issues Fixed: Manual update confirmation: Fixed an issue where a new version would install automatically when checking for updates, even if automatic updates were turned off. Now, you’ll be asked to confirm the update before it installs. Thank you for your feedback, and keep the suggestions coming! The new update is already available to all beta users and can be downloaded directly from https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb5_mac_preview If you are interested in joining our Beta program, go to Settings -> General -> check Beta updates checkbox and you are all set!
  3. Our auto-updating feature is currently not working in version 5.4.1 and a manual update is required. No other versions are affected by this nor are definitions for any version. How to check your version: Open Malwarebytes In the menu bar, click Malwarebytes and select About Malwarebytes If your version is 5.4.1, please continue and manually update. If it’s any other version, no further action is needed. How to update to the latest version: Open Malwarebytes In the menu bar, click Malwarebytes and select Check for Updates… An update will download and automatically install After updating, check your version and ensure it’s 5.5 or higher Once you’re using any version other than 5.4.1, the auto-updating feature will resume and these manual steps won’t be needed.

  5. Happy Monday! We are glad to share our most recent update Malwarebytes for Mac 5.7.0. What's new: For new users on macOS 15 Sequoia: updated in-app instructions for granting Full Disk Access and System Extensions permissions. Added a new modal dialog for users whose trial has expired, offering clear options for the next steps. Improved automatic updates functionality. The General settings tab now opens by default when accessing Settings (previously, the last opened tab would be shown). Issues Fixed: Fixed an issue that prevented the VPN from connecting due to a System Extension permissions error, which caused repeated permission prompts. Added missing flags for newly added VPN server locations. Minor bug fixes and UX improvements. The new update will be rolled out gradually to all users with automatic updates throughout the week. You can instantly update by downloading and installing the new update from our page Malwarebytes for Mac download or by checking for updates manually via Malwarebytes menu -> Check for updates. If you're running Malwarebytes 5.4.1 or earlier, we recommend downloading and installing the latest version 5.7.0 directly from our website. P.S. We understand that some of you were disappointed with the removal of the option to hide the application icon. We're grateful for your feedback and are actively working to bring this setting back in the next release. Stay tuned!

  7. Hi @MRyan69 Thank you so much for taking your time to provide a very detailed feedback. Now I understand where the beta key confusion originates. Let me address each point separately. If you are interested in using Malwarebytes Beta, you don't need a special key. You can go to Settings -> General -> Beta updates and enable the checkbox. This will give you an opportunity to receive new updates earlier than they go to general public release. We indeed gave out temporary keys to beta users before releasing MB5 to public, because free version wasn't optimized yet in pre-release beta at the end of last year. The Beta updates link in the About page is indeed misleading. Thanks for bringing it up, we'll make sure to fix it to avoid confusion for other Beta users. The invisible icon is completely unexpected and not something we've ever observed. It is possible that it can be a side effect of Bartender trying to remove the icon. Do I get it right that there's an empty space between your 2 icons & once you clicked on it -> Malwarebytes menu popped up? Malwarebytes menu in the screenshot looks limited as if you haven't completed installation (which was reported earlier by some forum users & was fixed in 5.6.0). I recommend to uninstall & re-install Malwarebytes 5.6.0 to make sure you see a full size menu. Would you be up for a quick test of the icon with a Bartender? I'd recommend disabling Bartender first Make a clean install of Malwarebytes 5.6.0 so you can see the icon & full size menu Enable Bartender and hide the icon Observe the results if the icon is properly hidden or if it's not visible, but functional as in the above screenshot? This will help us better understand your use case. We greatly appreciate your input!
  8. Hi Sam, Does it look like a notification you've seen? If so, then clicking "Don't Allow" should not affect any of your security. This is a new macOS Sequoia network security functionality, we are actively monitoring its impact on various components of our product. We will communicate if any additional action will be required. So far, you are all set!
  9. Hi @jbm1991 Thanks for your feedback. This is an intentional change. Our brand new Status menu dashboard is now an integral part of the product that allows users to access key features without the need to launch the full app. And for user convenience we want it to be at hand at all times. Also, the priority of status menu bar items is handled by the macOS, so if you don't interact with Malwarebytes icon the system will hide it and prioritize icons of the more frequently used apps to be shown.
  10. Hi @SamuelMorgan If you've updated to Sequoia macOS when you had Malwarebytes installed - there are no compatibility issues. Starting from 5.5.4 (Sep, 16) all new installations are fully compatible with the new macOS. If you have a free version of Malwarebytes, the closest thing that fits your description would be the system notifications permissions. To make sure you don't miss any product alerts we recommend enabling notifications. You can do it by opening System settings -> Notifications -> scroll to find Malwarebytes Agent -> and toggle the "Allow notifications" on. I hope this helps.
