  1. Hi Firefox!... Are you flying or browsing these days?... I did ask my friend to scan again in normal mode. Nothing more was found. Neither by her AV nor by a-squared free that I also asked her to try... She was over the moon about it. Fell in love with MBAM at first sight!... Regarding licenses etc, she explained that the PCs she talks about are the ones used by the teachers to prepare lessons, presentations etc, about half a dozen in total. The classroom PCs that the kids are using are all protected by 'Deepfreeze' with which the hard disk image is restored upon start up. They wouldn't survive any other way!...
  2. A friend of mine who teaches computing at a local school was telling me that one of her school PCs was giving definite signs of malware infestation. Their AV could identify some but was unable to clear them. I recommended she tried MBAM. She did this morning and called me to thank me for the advice. MBAM was freezing half-way through the scan so she tried running it in safe mode. MBAM did not freeze then and found over 80 badies which it promptly cleared... She was ever so excited, happy and thankful. She said she'll install MBAM free on all the PCs in her school (amazing the amount of crap school PCs collect from whatever sites kids get into under cover...) So, I keep the 'thanks to me' and I pass on the 'thanks to MBAM' to the forum, product and developers... Keep up the good work
  3. I use Ashampoo Burning Studio Offers everything you need and more without the bloat and liberties of Nero. I used to use Nero and had all sorts of problems, hang ups, unexplained errors etc. Even had difficulties uninstalling it. I finally managed to get rid of it and never looked back. I cannot verify it but I strongly suspect that Nero contains bits of dubious intentions... It's a piece of software I will never allow again on any of my pcs.
  4. I found out the cause of the error message!... MBAM wants all the languages to be there!... Generally, when I install a new application, I delete all languages except English. I do the same for all skins (if any) that I don't like As soon as I deleted the languages, I got the same behaviour as described above. I restored the languages and MBAM was happy... Just an 'antiracial' characteristic of MBAM!... Now we know...
  5. Thanks Noknojon for your quick reply. I have noted your comments and will keep them in case the problem re-appears. Everything seems to be ok now. BTW, the file I asked mbam to scan was not read-only. Wishing you a Happy and Prosperous New Year
  6. I asked Mbam to scan a single file through the right-click procedure. It came up with a small window showing the following: Run Time Error 383 'Text' Property is Read Only and just the OK button to press. Clicking on OK just closed the little window. I repeated the actions and I got the same result. I then tried to close Mbam but double clicking on the tray icon brought up the same error message. Same when right clicking on the tray icon. Same error message popped up even during the Un-install procedure. I uninstalled and then re-installed. It worked ok on a couple of scans and then same error message appeared I uninstalled yet again and I also ran the mbam-clean.exe program before re-installing I have just downloaded the latest signature file and tried a few scans. It seems ok and I hope it stays that way... Any ideas what the error means and what might have caused it? Thank you
  7. I'd like to add my congratulations and thanks to the Malwarebyte's team for their excellent product and the way they respond to their users. Keep up the good work and have a joyous Xmas and a happy and successful New Year. Thanks again Sunshine
  8. I wholeheartedly favour and suggest incremental updates. Makes it so much easier all round for the users, whatever their connection. NOD32 does it too. It will give the product a more professional look and feel. Please go for it...
  9. Well, that was a rather drastic action to ...silence your laptop. I hope you don't employ the same tactics with people!... LOL You could have taken the hard disk out and have it replaced by a new one. It wouldn't cost that much ($50 ?). As for the old disk, you could have either permanently keep it in your aquarium (good experience for the goldfish...) or throw it in the river over a bridge (after you tied a heavy stone to it). Or better still throw it in the sea as salt water would definitely knock the puff out of it for good. There is always the option of course to bury it in your back garden for a truly 'dead and buried' solution. A big problem how one can effectively dispose of an infected body but a good challenge to one's imagination. Let's see what more alternatives other forum friends come up with!...
  10. Back to the original problem of managing the reported bad items... I did a re-scan and sure the 3rd item came up. I ticked it (it was ticked) and pressed the ignore button. A message came up saying no items were selected. But the item was 'ticked'!... I figured that I'd have to ALSO click on it to highlight it and pressed 'Ignore' The item disappeared. I clicked on the Ignore List tab. Nothing in it Then everything on the Mbam window froze except 'Exit'. After pressing 'Exit' a message: 'Are you sure you want to exit Mbam?' (This message is totally uncalled for especially with nothing showing on the results...) After exiting and getting in again, a click on the 'Ignore List' tab showed that the item was indeed in the list. Sigh!... I'd urge the good Mbam people to rethink and redesign the scan results management functionality / UI What simpler than: Show results with the following buttons in a row at the bottom: Select all=Place 'ticks' on all entries De-select all=Remove all 'ticks' Move to Ignore List = Take ticked items off the results, move them to the Ignore list and allow user to SEE them on the ignore tab and COME BACK to the Results again Move to Quarantine = Take ticked items off the results and move them to Quarantine. Allow user to SEE them in quarantine and return to the results Delete=Delete ticked items, confirm deletion and take them off results Ignore this time=Just take ticked items off the results Exit=Only ask for confirmation if there are still items on the results screen. If user exits, treat remaining items as 'Ignore this time' Please make a distinction between 'Ignore' and 'Move to Ignore List'. 'Ignore' on its own should mean 'Ignore this time', ie just take it off the results screen and STAY on the results screen. Knowing of the fantastic things you do with the Mbam code, this should be kid's stuff for you and give the product the tidy and professional UI/functionality it deserves. All the above trying to be helpful and in full appreciation of the excellent work you are doing Best wishes
  11. Thanks Firefox (what version are you?... ) I'll make sure I post Xmas wishes to 50 forum members!... Any feedback on my little bug?... Cheers
  12. Thanks YoKenny1 I could see it just after I posted. I don't know why it did not show at first. I'm sure I looked everywhere, especially near the top. In fact I was looking for an 'Edit' key to edit my original post when you posted. Thanks Any comments on the apparent bug (which is the main issue of my message) ?
  13. Hello everybody, this is my first 'appearance' in your forum I ran a full scan. Mbam identified 3 bad items and displayed them on the screen for me to decide what to do with them. I ticked the first 2 and pressed the button for them to be taken to the quarantine. That was done ok but immediately afterwards the text report was displayed and the screen, where the 3rd item should still be on, disappeared. I wanted to add the 3rd item to the ignore list but I was not given the chance!... Now I will have to run the scan again to locate the 3rd item and treat it the way I want... As a side comment/problem... Being the first time I post, I was looking for the 'New Post' button everywhere on the opening page that lists all the postings. I couldn't find it anywhere. When I opened an existing posting, I could see 'Reply' and 'New Post' buttons on the top right. The 'New Post' button is in the wrong place, it should have been on the first page. If it is also next to the 'Reply' (within the messages) that's ok but the user should not have to open just any posting purely to find the 'New Post' button... Unless I am missing something... I look forward to your comments
