I already read that post before I created a new post. Thanks for your help! Hey! Since MalwareBytes didn't detect anything, I'm also going to try SpyHunter and Spybot. Are there any other big malware scanners I should try as well, before I give up? There used to be a forum to help people track down malware back in the day. Does anything like that still exist today?

Sure thing. I just noticed, there's another copy of the file a couple of directories up in the folder: C:\Users\James\AppData\Roaming\JWrapper-MapTool\JWrapper-MapTool-00053648849-complete I'll zip that up and include it as MapToolWinLauncher2.zip MapToolWinLauncher.zip MapToolWinLauncher2.zip

Well, I didn't think that the Maptools Suite was THAT archaic, but I guess I was wrong. Fresh install of MalwareBytes, because I'm observing some malware like behavior. Unfortunately, it didn't get any hits on any actual bad stuff, but it did tick off Maptools as unrecognized. false positive.txt
