  1. Okay, I found the solution! And it is definitely a bug, and replicable. In the three settings I mentioned, and in fact, in ALL of the settings, if a user SLIDES the setting button from off to on (or vice versa), the setting will not stick. A user must CLICK the setting button either off or on for it to stick. What makes this most frustrating is that SLIDING the setting button will APPEAR to have changed the setting, allowing one to think that sliding is an acceptable way of changing a setting. But it is not! Only CLICKING will result in a setting change that sticks, or remains. This was causing me sleeplessness until I discovered that sliding was the culprit. I invite others to test this out. I have done so multiple times. Sliding will appear to have changed the setting, but if you change tabs, then come back, the setting will have reverted. Only clicking results in an actual setting change. HTH
  2. I went back to v2.2.1.1043 on one machine. Now I can configure it the way I want it and it stays that way. The second machine still has 3.0.6.1469 on it, and is still having the same issue, but at least it is stuck on settings that are mostly acceptable at this time, and I'll leave it alone in hopes that a fix is released, or someone can advise me as to how to repair. To the best of my knowledge, there is no clean uninstall tool yet for 3.0. Hopefully that changes soon.
  3. I followed your suggestion, Aura, and the issue actually got worse. Now, in addition to the 'Scan Option' settings that would not stick, I have additional settings that are exhibiting the same behavior. 'Usage and Threat Statistics' setting won't stick, nor will the 'Automatic Quarantine' setting. If it is any help to the devs, I just noticed that these settings actually fail to stick when I change tabs, like from Application tab to Protection tab, then back again. This happens without closing the GUI dialog. The inability in 3.0.6 to change settings has made the program unusable to me, unfortunately. Maybe I should uninstall 3.0 and go back to 2.2.
  4. I wanted to add to my original post. Above I noted that the, "Problem is that the 'Scan within archives' setting will not stick when toggled from on to off or vice versa". I discovered that the same is true for BOTH 'Scan Options' settings. Neither 'Scan for rootkits' or 'Scan within archives' will stick after being changed. So far as I can tell, all other settings do stick when selected, so the issue exists just with 'Scan Options' settings.
  5. I just upgraded two different 7x64 computers from 2.2.1.1043 to 3.0.6.1469. Problem is that the 'Scan within archives' setting will not stick when toggled from on to off or vice versa. And here's some added weirdness... on one machine the 'Scan within archives' setting is stuck on On, and on the other machine it is stuck on Off. I can easily move the slide indicator from one setting to the other, but upon closing and reopening the GUI dialog, the setting has reverted. And, as noted above, it is stuck on On on one machine and stuck on Off on the other! I see no special way of applying setting changes other than closing GUI dialog. Could use some suggestions, please. TY
  6. Same threat detection here... BleachBit-1.6-setup.exe . Also bleachbit.exe . TY
  7. I doubt that I'll be using the tool again, and I've already noted the FP, so you guys can ignore the heads up if you like, doesn't matter to me. And now, back to the NEWS. Thanks, Ron.
  8. What I am trying to determine is whether or not what I just reported about JRT removing the Chrome extension uBlock Origin is going to be addressed? You have not said whether or not anyone will look at that. Or if you have, I'm not understanding. Thank you
  9. To be clear, are you saying the uBlock FP I just posted about is not considered reported unless I post it in another thread?
  10. JRT just removed Chrome extension uBlock Origin. Given the choice, that would not have been allowed to happen. Not too happy about the removal without permission process, but from reading this thread it looks as though that may change?
  11. Yes, you are correct about CCleaner, Firefox, and I double-checked that setting first thing when I became aware of this issue... I mean, it's a natural place to look, right? However the MBAM selection in CC is unchecked. The good news is that everything is copasetic one day after doing the clean removal thing. I wanted to wait a while before responding, to see if the old business-as-usual behavior was still present, wherein the logs would disappear, reappear, then vanish again. It's not. The logs are compiling and remaining, as they should. I am still somewhat skeptical in the back of my brain, thinking that the logs could go away again, so time will tell. Thanks for recommending the clean uninstall/reinstall process, Firefox. Your volunteer work here is appreciated. Hoping this fixes things for good.
  12. The logs disappeared. Is there a setting for how long they are kept before being deleted? I couldn't locate one. Maybe the disappearance is due somehow to yesterday's Windows Updates? Guess I'd better go for the clean removal process.
  13. Well, this is very odd. I was preparing to do the clean uninstall/reinstall.. I made copies of every setting for fast re-configuring, I downloaded the installer and the mbam-clean executable. I made sure I had my license keys available, and was all ready to get with it. I decided to check on the History page one last time (I'm not even sure why I wanted to do that) and guess what was there? Yep. All scan logs and protection logs dating back to May 8th. Amazing! The only thing I did that MIGHT have in any way triggered this reappearance of the log files was yesterday I clicked on the Delete All button (on the blank page), thinking that sometimes toggling a setting on and off or whatever might prompt it into action. It did nothing, as I knew it wouldn't (because there was nothing there to delete, right?). I even checked the History page in the console earlier today, and the log files were not there. Most unusual! It was almost as if the program knew I was going to uninstall it, and it said, "Wait a minute, I'm okay!".
  14. Hello and ty for your reply, Firefox. I will follow your suggestion, but can you tell me if this is an issue that has been reported before in this forum? I searched a bit (not an exhaustive seach by any means) and could not find any info on it happening.
  15. 2.1.8.1057 Premium running on two 7x64 machines. One is compiling scan and protection logs, and the other isn't. Settings are identical in both programs. How can I fix it so that I can review these logs in the program?
  16. Same thing happened on one of my W7 machines. It was very odd for it to display that message after using MBAM Premium for so long. I ran the scan and it hasn't prompted me again. Ghosts in the machine? Must be.
  17. @ CurlySue... sure glad to help, although according to daledoc, what I suggested worked only by coincidence. @ daledoc... thanks for the link to the Wikipedia write up on CDN. I'll have to read that over one day. I sometimes miss the times when people spoke and wrote without having to be questioned about acronyms. Had you simply written "some sort of server issue" the communication, though somewhat less esoteric in appearance, would have been instantaneous.
  18. Same thing happened to me on one of my W7 computers. Updating would not stop... perpetual is a good word to describe what it was doing. It would replicate even after reboot and choosing update. Since I had just updated my other W7 machine to 2.0.4, I decided to do the same with the 'perpetual update' machine. So far, it seems to have fixed the problem.
  19. I went ahead and upgraded. Thanks for the new release.
