extra : I previously excluded code.exe and it didn't work, but excluding the whole folder now prevents the problem, I should have thought about doing that earlier. Thanks both of you, this is probably the best solution so far.

Thanks a lot for your help! Unfortunately that didn't work, so I re-enabled it and will work with ransomware off while I code now. I should also mention that I can open git bash, powershell, cmd, just fine on their own. It's only when they are started by vscode that they fail to start.

I did update and unfortunately it didn't fix the problem, i think it may have to do with vscode updating, even though honestly i'm not sure. thanks, disabling just the ransomware protection worked, i'll use the tool and upload it soon

i'm a developer, i use visual studio code. I don't know what changed, I think malwarebytes auto-updated. It no longer lets visual studio code open its integrated terminal. It fails and automatically closes. I tried adding the vscode .exe to the exclusion list but it still didn't work.
