  1. I reverted back to v3.8 and wow what a difference! Everything is back to normal. I ran the same threat scan as in v4. In v4 it would stall for HOURS on the "Checking for updates" (1st part). In v3 the same process took less than 15 seconds. The entire threat scan was done in less than 4 minutes. EVERYTHING works better now - Google Chrome is no longer laggy and slow. I thought I had two separate issues and was looking into reinstalling Chrome! I was able to open a photo from Desktop into Photoshop very quickly. In v4 it would take minutes. Even opening a dialog box through Chrome to upload a file took 38 seconds. I can't believe that update blew up my PC like that... Ridiculous.
  2. Update: This has continued to be a problem. I added myself as a Beta Tester through the UI. I also checked some other boxes that seemed to make sense. Close and Restart. MB would no longer launch but would run in the background. Right click from system tray and it wouldn't pop up. Run from file location and it wouldn't pop up. I download the support tool. I run the Repair which works and I can launch MB now. Run a scan and now the Pause and Cancel scan buttons are back! Yay! I was going to return here and praise the MB engineers for listening. Short lived satisfaction. My MB Premium 4.04 is now again stuck on "Checking for updates" for hours. My PC is slow which affects my job. And the Pause and Cancel buttons are gone again. I tried canceling all of my scans but it's still "Checking". I tried to schedule a new scan - no success. I would be happy to Cancel the scan and try again but can't. I guess I'll run the support tool again just to get this bleeding thing to stop. I appreciate the support you guys give on this forum. But I'm just a layman who bought it, installed it, and expected it to run without these types of issues. Really zapping my patience is taking away the one feature that would let me quickly get back to work. Hopefully some senior engineer sees this and realizes he shouldn't be messing with a good thing too much.
  3. This new Version 4 update sucks hard!!! I'm not a techy person and all of the admins and super users are recommending things that are above my knowledge. Or they're just plain rude ("Move!"). How many others have come here looking for answers (or Google, Twitter, etc) and turned back because MB seems to not want to acknowledge they launched a sh!tty update. My scan has been running for 63 hours and stuck on Checking for Updates. Lame! No, I will not install MB Support Tool that others have said did not fix their problems. No, I will not download and zip log files. No, I am not running Kaspersky or some other virus protection. No, I will not __________. Fix your product! Others have commented that backdating to v3 made "their" problems go away so clearly the issue is with your "upgrade". Why can't I pause a scan like the previous version? That would at least allow me to get on with my work. It has in the past. You took away a feature that helped! Now I don't know how to stop the scan. Delete the scheduled scan? Closing the program sounds like a non-solution. Turn on Beta? With the giant warning about this is not fully tested.... Fix your product before a release. What a crazy joke this is. And I have to hunt on these forums for answers... I really thought MB was better than this. BTW, I could have commented on any number of other threads on this exact issue. But I started a new one because MB, and others, need to see how much aggravation this is causing. I may not re-check this new thread. I'm so pissed. If mods or admins need to contact me, send an email.
