  1. Well, I think this problem must be fixed. My PC did another update today, and it worked (and rebooted etc) fine.
  2. I just installed an update today "2023-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5033375)" I rebooted and forgot to set up Malwarebytes (to not load on reboot) - but it installed fine and rebooted OK. So, maybe this problem is fixed (?)
  3. Hi, Yes - you just have to stop MWB loading on the reboot. See my post above (the first post)
  4. Hi nord - see my post above - that worked for me, to install the update. I opened a support ticket - and they said it's a Microsoft problem :-\ So, we may have to continue this workaround for awhile until we know it's been fixed...
  5. For Malwarebytes support: Here is my log files. You can see the problem all day on Wed 15 Nov. until around 9:00 PM (UK time) when I got the update to work (by not loading Malwarebytes on Windows strartup) mbst-grab-results.zip
  6. I have that turned off. I usually just install these option "feature updates" - as I haven't had any trouble with them. I might stop now ;) Security Update for Windows (KB5032190) is a "real" one though. I'll run the support tool as mentioned above - for what it's worth.
  7. Hi, I have a dual boot PC running Windows 11. There are two different Windows partitions and each one can boot with the other one hidden (so two different setups). A few weeks ago, update KB5031455 failed on both of these. I just put it down to a problem with the update itself. The update would install itself, but after 30% the PC would reboot (normal so far) and then it would fail rather than finishing the update - and reboot again. Then, after a third reboot, it gave a weird "something's gone wrong here" message. (see screenshot) Then yesterday the same thing happened with a newer update KB5032190. Again this happened on both of my boot partitions, so I knew it wasn't a bad update, and it was caused by something in common to both boot partitions. After wasting the better part of a day, and reinstalling Windows 11 (it doesn't overwrite any settings or data - just takes a long time) and trying various other fixes that I found online - I tried disabling Malwarebytes. Everything worked OK after this and the update installed on both partitions. So - this only applies to the bigger updates, as Windows defender updates, and a .NET update were OK. To solve my problem - I had to stop Malwarebytes from loading on Windows startup, then quit Malwarebytes (this part probably isn't really necessary) (see screenshots) I'll be doing this until I hear that this issue has been resolved - as it is a real PIA (and time waster) to wait for the update to fail and then to roll back and fix itself - which requires 4-5 more reboots. Has anyone else seen this problem (as of Oct 2023) or is anyone at Malwarebytes aware of it? PS - I also had to quit Malwarebytes to do the windows re-installs too, as they would fail during the "gathering information" stage. This isn't really a big problem - just a word of advice ;)
  8. I'll have to go check my settings - I have these enabled...
  9. I was talking about the Defender scans ;-) That is the default for Defender anyway. I'm running Windows 11. I didn't see anything scheduled in the task scheduler. I had to put the task in myself.
  10. OK, I've set one of my PCs up with Malwarebytes and Windows defender only. Defender was a little finicky to get started, but it's fine now. The real time scanning is the main thing to have behind Malwarebytes, but I set up a task to do a weekly (Defender) scan too (Malwarebytes does it's own scans and they're no problem). I'll need to see if the task actually works, since I set it to only run if the PC is idle (this is my Music PC so I don't want it to fire off if I'm in the middle of something). Checking the event viewer (to see if these scans actually worked) is a little messy too - but I'll see how it goes. hopefully it will become "set and forget" ;-) I've still got my "normal" PC and laptop to go, so I'll see how this goes for a little while (Kaspersky is good until November) Thanks to everyone for the advice.
  11. Hi Porthos - no real aversion, I'm just looking for opinions ;) I just assumed that a paid for AV product will be better than the free MS one. I'm looking to change from Kaspersky, so was toying with the idea of running Malwarebytes Premium only. I figured that this is a good place to talk about it ;)
  12. So, to go back to my original question - no one is having conflicts between Malwarebytes and other AV solutions?
  13. So, really, you're saying that it is preferred to run an AV scanner with Malwarebytes?
  14. Yeah, I've got Premium. I'm running it through Windows Security Center at the moment (along with Kaspersky). I was going to leave this and not run Defender. I'm trying to simplify things and not have conflicting programs. I did have a nightmare a few years ago - caused by a Kaspersky update - and a lot of people gave me a hard time for running both together.
  15. OK - thanks for the info. I've got Browser guard installed - I'll check some of these other suggestions.
  16. Hi, I've been using Malwarebytes on my PC and laptop for quite a few years now, together with Kaspersky Total Security. I'm thinking of getting rid of the Kaspersky, so wondering how many people here are running Malwarebytes as the only protection on a Windows PC? Or should I really be running something besides Malwarebytes? Rgds, John B
  17. Seems to be wporking here - thanks for this!! Also thanks for not just saying "well, Kaspersky needs to fix this..."
  18. Ahh OK - I knew it's not beta, but just assumed the "non beta" update had the fix, since it has the same number for the first part and higher for the second. I'll avoid beta versions for now as I have enough to worry about. ;)
  19. I just updated and I'm on ver 4.1.0.56 - 1.0.20694 and firefox still won't load. Thunderbird seems OK though...
  20. Hmm - it works OK here. Try disabling Ransomeware protection and Exploit protection - that works fine here with MB 4 and KTS 2020.
  21. Still doesn't work with this combo. Fine with Ransomware protection off.
