  1. I hate to be such a dummy, but this is getting into things deeper than I feel I understand or can find my way back out of. Those instructions are for Windows 7 & 8. The Microsoft button + 'C' gets no response in Windows 10. I did a search on 'run as administrator' and got all kinds of suggestions taking me deeper into this than I understand. I couldn't find an administrator command box etc. This is just over my head.

I have taken up too much of your time. If you can and would be willing to do so, I'd be happy for you to take remote control of this unit and see if you can find the problem directly. If not, I think we've gone as far as I can without my screwing up this machine totally.

Thank you so much for your time and assistance!

  2. The problem is the same still.

No, different 'things' screw up in FB like very long or no response entries, click or posting in PMs. Sometimes it works a bit better after I've had the site up ten or fifteen minutes. Wonder if two programs are conflicting? I do have Malewarebytes Premium and System Mechanic.

The worst problem for me is that this problem won't let me go to subroutines within some sites like 'pay bills' function in my credit union site. I get the frown box and ERR CONNECT RESET. I have noticed on some sites that screen flashes up before it goes to the designated page.

The computer runs on Google's Chrome, no Foxfire.

  3. Oh wow, this is way over my head. First, I use Chrome not Foxfire. I dare no start messing with the operating system. I can't even follow all those save this and that stuff and import it back etc. I'm not much of a techie. I can't afford to screw this machine up totally. I don't store my passwords anywhere, either. I don't know what to do. I do appreciate all your efforts to help.

  4. Sorry, no, I've done this several times. It's been on 'Automatically detect settings' all along. I just reversed checking proxy and okay, then again to uncheck proxy and check it back to Auto but it still doesn't fix the problem. Whatever the problem is, it really screws up FB in odd places and won't let me go to the 'pay bills' subroutine in my credit union site. AOL mail, KDP sites work just fine. I can't make sense of it.

  5. Me again. I figured out the problem. I had clicked on the fix file twice. Deleted the original leaving the one with suffix (1). I finally found the file URL in the properties and saw it was in the same folder as the program but the program didn't recognize it. I changed the suffix (1) to txt and the fix program ran. Couldn't attach the file forever, finally had to signin again to get the attach file thing to work.

    Fixlog.txt

  6. I'm lost. I tried to delete the driverupdate file and the system says it was not there.

I clicked on the 'fixlist.txt' thingy above and apparently is downloaded to notepad? It gave me no option to store it in C:Users\Craig\Downloads. I can find the file and fine the FRST program, but the fix text file isn't in the same folder and I don't know how to move it. When tried to run the FRST program is says the file is not in the same folder.

  7. Recently, I started getting "ERR CONNECT RESET" when trying to move within some sites, not all. Now FB is extremely slow in loading within the site as well. Whatever the problem, it doesn't slow the loads to sites. The problem doesn't seem to affect AOL email, or Yahoo sites. I have done the Key R, inetcpl.cpl, Connedtions tab, and the "Auto delete settings" is checked correctly. I've done deep scans with Malwarebytes and it finds no issues on the computer. I've run System Mechanic to find and repair everything like histories, registry problems, etc. and defragmented the hard drive, but nothing fixes this problem.

At this point, I can't click to the "Pay Bills" within my credit union site to pay my bills online.
