I just got a new(to me) Dell Precision laptop. It had a brand new install of Windows 10 Pro 64bit installed. The first thing I did, as I always do, is install Malwarebytes. I have Premium, and I downloaded the version referenced above, 3.7.1.2839, which according to everything I have seen is the latest version. I noticed a lag when I right-clicked on the desktop before a menu came up(~3 seconds), or an icon in the system tray(about the same), and I found that when I clicked on the Windows Explorer icon on the taskbar, it took 7 seconds for the window to be displayed, and another 2-3 seconds for it to be populated. All of these seemed excessive, so I disabled Windows Defender using the policy editor. No change, even after reboot. I disabled the Malwarebytes protections, and nothing changed, once again even after a reboot. I uninstalled Malwarebytes, and suddenly things were vastly better. Right-click menus pop up instantly, and Explorer races along(lol, for Explorer) with about a 2 second lag, and the window paints immediately. This seems to affect ALL programs when they start, as splash screens when Malwarebytes is installed take several seconds, and when it is not, they are almost instant.
I have had problems with updates to Malwarebytes in the past slowing down the system, but normally I can revert to an earlier version to fix the problem, and I see comments all over the net about the issue. This time I have no way to go backward, as the latest is the only version I can find, and I do not see people complaining. Is there some super secret ninja stuff that will fix this? Do I need to gather information to help you troubleshoot the issue? I cannot use the machine with this sort of lag, but I have to have Malwarebytes on my machines. HELP!
