  1. Thanks alvarnell. I am a patient person and will wait.
  2. I am currently running the latest version 4.0.434, premium. I checked the status and it is current but still has the older user interface. Any ideas or thoughts? Thanks in advance.
  3. I have found an ad blocker to be very effective on the computer. When I pause the blocker for some news and religious sites because they demand it, all manner of ads pop up. The trick I learned a long time ago is to avoid clicking on the ads. No matter how enticing they may be. I un-pause the blocker after leaving the site. I don't have any ad block on my phone nor do I have MB on my phone and since it is primarily a phone, I avoid the web with it as much as possible.
  4. Well, I am now up and running MWB premium. That certainly took a long time. MWB contacted me just a couple minutes ago and said I tried to crush MWB. I clicked a button and the long awaited process started. Scanning now. Thanks for the patience and answers.
  5. Thanks.I tried upgrading from the free version. I am going to give it another shot tonight. Maybe they were busy or something.
  6. After 15 minutes, order was still processing. So I gave it another shot and just a spinning wheel - processing order. It has now been a little over 30 minutes. I will try again later or maybe the order will eventually go through. PayPal authorized it. Twice. If both go through I guess I will combine for a 2 year subscription or cancel one for a refund. Time will tell.
  7. I just ordered/upgraded to the premium. The order is processing. Thanks again.
  8. OK. Now I understand. Sorry about it taking so long for me to understand.
  9. I truly appreciate all the help. But why if there is only one version are there 2 version numbers? And what is the difference between the protection version and the premium? I admit to being a little confused. Thanks.
  10. 3.9.32? Would that be the full premium version?
  11. Got it and thanks. My settings have it set to check for updates every hour. 4.0.434 is the version I am running.
  12. Protection updates are showing current. I don't see anything to select to check for updates. I would send a picture screen shot of this but not sure how. The fee is more than reasonable, it is just a matter of will it bog down my aging system. Thanks again.
  13. I am running the free version now but not the free trial Premium version since I did give it a try some months back. So I am not sure if I want to risk buying a license or not. Just sort of iffy. I need to give this some thought. Thanks!
  14. Hello folks - I have an older iMac running El Capitan 10.11.6. I tried an earlier version of premium (trial) and the iMac seemed to run a tad slower but I don't remember. Does anyone see a problem with upgrading? My iMac is too old for any OS updates and a new system is out of the question. Thanks!
  15. For several months, MB free has scanned 13600+ files every night. On 20 OCT 16,678 scanned; 21 OCT - 21123; 22 OCT 23911; 23 OCT 26863 and 24 OCT 26462 files. Nothing found and I haven't added any programs. I subscribe to some news papers and watch woodworking and shooting videos on youtube and visit about a dozen free news sites every night. I guess I am on the computer about 4 hours per night catching up on the days events. That is my normal. Any idea why the nearly doubling of files scanned? I am at a loss. Thanks!
  16. Thanks. I have a better understanding of how MB works. It took a while for me to get comfortable with MB not scanning every single item on my computer, but articles and this forum has helped a lot. Again, my thanks.
  17. I can appreciate MB updating their product on a constant basis. I can also see where there would be some diminishing returns on keeping it fully backward compatible. Even Apple has stopped sending updates.
  18. You are correct. iMac 9.1 configured as follows: iMac (24-inch, Early 2009); 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3; NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB Still runs good. I can read news from around the world, store photos, visit BBQ forums, and FaceTime with my family. Some day it will crash, and I will upgrade to a new iMac. Till then, all is well.
  19. I had the same problem, or one very much similar, running the trial Premium on my Mac, El Capitan, 10.11.6. Even after I logged in, web pages loaded very slowly. Bottom line was my Mac is old and so is the operating system. I had an even worse problem with a competitors product, Avast which drove me to stay with MB. I really wanted the upgrade but until I get a new Mac, I am limited to the free version.
  20. I said it runs in the background because I have never seen it actually pop up or anything. So I just figured it ran automatically. I will take the advice and un-check it in Safari and see what happens. I subscribe to WAPO, NY Times, USN&WR, Christian Science Monitor, Townhall, CNS News, Christian Post, SRN, ARCA, BBC and a host of other sites as well as some better known news sites. So I will see how they work. Thanks for the help.
  21. I have the latest version of Flash Player. It just runs in the background . I checked Safari Security and it is turned on. I suppose I could turn it off and see if the sites I visit need it or not. I have read that something called HTML5 is replacing FP and is better . Any thoughts on me down loading it? And who makes it? Thanks.
  22. That was certainly an interesting article. I learned a lot regarding Flash. So far I have the current version per Adobe. I went to my down load file and saw the Flash Fake removal tool. Still present since I got burned some time ago. I suppose it is OK to send the tool to trash but I kept it "just in case". Something I have often wondered about is can one safely remove updates be they from Apple or Adobe or wherever from the download file once the update has been completed? In other words, if everything is running fine, can the hard drive image with the update be sent to the trash? And thanks for the link to the article.
  23. Thanks much , that was one of the articles, among many, that I read early on and it made no sense to me. How could a program scan an entire hard drive so quickly? Sometime back I posted a question citing the number of files scanned by MWB and the number scanned by Avast which was easily 10 times more files than what MWB scanned. I received some good answers. Even got answers from corporate. I got comfortable knowing, after a fashion and with answers in this forum that MWB was taking total care of my system. But there remained a lingering question or two. The article I cited in the link cleared it all up. My only concern is that I am stuck with El Capitan (cannot upgrade further) and when I tried the premium version of MWB, my computer slowed down considerably from start up. Pages would load slow; searches would take a long time. So until I can get a newer computer that will run the premium version, I will continue to use the free version.
