  1. Also what you could check; Power on your computer, and check if the disk activity light on your desktop is blinking and you hear your HDD working. If the light does not blink and no sound from the HDD at power -on and only see ventilators spinning, then your motherboard does not boot up. This could be a fault with the motherboard. Also a bad video-card can make the computer does not boot up anymore. You can also try to boot up without video-card installed. Normally your system will beep at boot time because it can't find an video-card. At last also check that the power connector for video-card coming from the power supply is attached! Without power delivered a modern video-card does not boot up at start without power on that cable. So it also could be the power supply that has some rails broken to deliver the needed voltage of 12V.
  2. Maybe it has something to do with the new Firefox version 75.0 that now installs an Telemetry program on your PC? Firefox 75 comes with a new telemetry agent that sends information about your operating system and your default browser to Firefox every day. For some time, Firefox has been collecting telemetry data about how you use the browser, such as the number of web pages you visit, safe-browsing information, the number of open tabs and windows, what add-ons are installed, and more. This telemetry data is kept for 13 months and IP addresses listed in server logs are deleted every 30 days.
  3. Hello, yes i would also advice against using tuneup, it does more bad then good things. Ccleaner is not so bad and can sometimes help, just do not use the registry cleaner build in. Best to leave that alone if everything okay. Also an defrag program is not needed, windows is doing a great job now and handles this for you without interruption. Specially when you have an SSD built in, NEVER use an defrag program it can potentially harm you new SSD. We respond on different times because excile is from the US and i am from EU, so we have a big different hours.
  4. Yes it seems Malwarebytes is doing a good job protecting you! 😃👍
  5. The pup optional is not really adware but more or less an unwanted program for malwarebytes. This can be due many reasons, it changes your computer settings or it sends all information about you and computer back to the software maker. With optional in it means you can set in in Malwarebytes exclusions, so next time it scanning your computer it will not remove it anymore and leave it alone. But remember you are taking a risk, Malwarebytes is just warning you to better not use it.
  6. This should normally not happen, i did buy 3 licenses with the app, was leaded to PayPal and all was fine. Not sure what did go wrong over there.
  7. This is a message from your monitor itself. You get this message when your monitor does not receive any video-signal from your video-card. Same things happens when your PC go to sleep mode, however this is not the case from you. Reading everything above i suspect there is a problem with your PC, has nothing to do with software or adware. Most likely there is an problem with your video-card in your PC. You can try pulling it out and re-seat it, then switch your PC again. If still the same things happen, then your video-card or power supply may be defective. If only ventilators are going on, but further nothing happens, it also can be a motherboard problem.
  8. This is something for malwarebytes team, to look further into your case.
  9. Just updates to FF 75.0 now, nothing happens... All is okay.
  10. Very strange, on my four computers and 25+ computers from clients no problems with FF and Malwarebytes...😲
  11. Exactly you name everything why i decided to buy also an desktop for gaming. I was also looking first for an gaming laptop. But i found then too big and heavy to take with you, an big ass power supply from 300W (some laptops even has two power supply), noise and heat. So i choose a fast and robust laptop with build-in GPU for some basic games. For the more heavy tasks and games my gaming rig doing its job. But anyway with your gaming laptop you are good for the next 5 years for sure! Have pleasure with it!👍
  12. If you have problems like this then the best thing to do is this steps; (as you not sure where what is used or not) Go to your Malwarebytes account and reset EVERYTHING. Then refresh the page, you will see all is clear now, all keys available. Now just start your computers that all use Malwarebytes, the one that is activated already will automatically activate again, and it will subtract one activation at your my account. Any old keys you used long ago will not reactivate again anymore, so this places will be free now. For any computer left that is not activated, go ahead and give the key to activation, every activation will subtract one from your keys available. If after all done go to your my account to list everything, you will see al activation made by you. If you see any activation that is not made by you, then your key could be pirated and used by someone else. I this case you have to head to Malwarebytes support and make a ticket. If you have proof of purchase then they will exchange your keys for a new one, so only you can use them from now on, the old ones will be blacklisted.
  13. Also with an big ass Power Supply i guess? 😋 But yes you are ready for next 5 years for sure.
  14. As for me i use a good laptop like an HP Elitebook, expensive but a dream to exchange parts inside by yourself. And for gaming and big tasks my Big desktop is my best friend, no way for a gaming laptop. A pleasure to exchange and experiment!
  15. I don't like to say this, but often more expensive laptops like gaming are better for a long working future. On the cheap ones they now also solder the SSD directly on to the motherboard and also the battery is not serviceable for the consumer. So your cheap laptop is in the end more expensive anyway due to all extra costs for replacement.
  16. Especially when the laptop is some years old, it can be quite a task finding a spare one. For new and expensive laptops for gaming you have more luck.
  17. Yes when it is on an MXM card installed you can have luck exchange it for a better one, but beware that your bios is compatible with it... Some laptops does not support this in the bios. And then good luck finding a spare one.
  18. Also even when everything is clean and working okay, people put the laptop on their legs or the blanket... Effectively blocking the air inlet for the laptop to cool down.😰 I have seen a lot of dead laptops passing in the many years doing this. On time i had a laptop where the in and outtake where blocked by melted chocolate... 😬 In this case CPU was okay but build-in GPU died from overheating. This GPU was soldered on the motherboard, so no way to exchange it for a new one. They could repair in the factory for the price of an almost new laptop...
  19. As this forum has no edit button available for your posts i also want to say this; Ignoring this problem will finally damage your laptop in the long time! Then your laptop will just be an expensive Press-Paper... It will slowly gets worse, until it shuts down after working with it for half an hour, or completely random! Many people just does not realize this.
  20. It is the best to uninstall this DELL bloatware... Critical flaws in Dell bloatware This is not the first time Demirkapi found critical vulnerabilities within software that comes pre-installed on major vendors' computers, including Lenovo and Dell. For instance, he previously discovered a remote code execution flaw tracked as CVE-2019-3719 and impacting most Dell machines that come with the SupportAssist Client software installed by default. Demirkapi also found a local privilege escalation vulnerability affecting Dell's SupportAssist Client which comes "preinstalled on most of all new Dell devices running Windows operating system." SupportAssist "proactively checks the health of your system’s hardware and software," according to Dell and it will send "necessary system state information" to Dell for troubleshooting when issues are detected.
  21. Note; Some laptops are not rebooting and just are shutting down the system.
  22. I had this same problem with many clients over the years, as soon the laptop or desktop has to do hard work, meaning doing some things that is using many CPU working time, then suddenly the computer fails and start up again. In many cases this also can be an hardware fault... In many of my cases it was the computer overheating, as long as you did do normal things, like browse the web write a letter or email, see your pictures, etc... Meaning just basic stuff doing, everything is okay and the computer is doing it's job. When however you did to a task that is requiring your computer to work harder, it suddenly fails and reboot. You can easily check if this is your problem with an laptop: If you hear and high pitched wining sound all the time when work with your computer in a basic way, and you remember that long ago it did not do this, then you computer is overheating! The build-in ventilator is working on it's max. but it's not able to efficient cope with the extra heat building up, resulting in the temp of the CPU or laptop going sky high resulting in a stop and reboot to protect itself. If you have this problem the cooling system inside your laptop needs to be cleaned urgent! Every time i did do this with a laptop from one of my clients (yes i most cases you have to open the laptop to be able doing this) and i started it up again after cleaning, the silence was noticeable when working with it. When doing basic stuff the laptop was now DEAD SILENCE and when doing any task that requires your computer to work a little harder, you then just begin to hear the ventilator blowing away hot air from inside. But one thing is different; It not makes any high pitched sound anymore, and more important; It is not rebooting anymore! In some cases it was the power supply coming to it's end and can not cope with the extra power required for your laptop or desktop to do it's job. You can easily check this with a spare power supply if this is the case. But as said in many cases it was the cooling system completely blocked with dust, and heat can not be blown away anymore. If you are a computer novice, then it is the best you bring your computer to a store where they can check this for you. DO not open your laptop if you have no experience with this! And never when it is still in warranty! I hope this can help many users. It is in any way always a good idea to clean your computer every year, with a vacuum cleaner and an soft painter brush. Just be care full doing this so you not suck up little pieces or even keys from the keyboard.
  23. Advancedsetup said that there are updates for both, that's right because Microsoft posted new update recently. Malwarebytes however does not install updates for Windows. It is only updating itself with a new database or version. Windows updates are still delivered via the screen shots phortos posted. Even when you do nothing you will get updates automatically for both. Meaning Windows will look itself for updates and install them if any, as the same thing counts for Malwarebytes. It can't be more clear then this i guess... In my 20 years in working with computers and AV i never heart any of my clients that does not understand this. The only question i sometimes get is people calling me; Hey Malwarebytes is telling me there is an update, can i install this? Then i say sure if it is for Malwarebytes no problem. Other AV programs say just the same, there is an update available... Meaning an update for its own program. Yes some AV will also check if you did install recent Windows updates and if there are any available, it brings you to the screen Phortos posted. So every program just updates itself, what can be difficult about that?
  24. Yes here the same, i have upgraded most of laptops with an SDD from my clients. They all very happy with an faster laptop or desktop and thanked me. Also no everyone use defender with malwarebytes and NO problems with anything at all. i always try to say that more then one AV is not an good idea, and you can be sure to have a lot of problems with computer and programs. Malwarebytes and defender are the best solution without any problems. For people that use an Desktop you also can use an NVMe SSD instead if possible.
  25. IT IS auto renewal... See screenshot. So after four years protection it would be an very poor student i guess...
