  1. Thanks Ron and PM sent with my details for My.Malwarebytes.com account assistance.

Firstly my apologies for my attitude in previous posts.

I just updated to 3.7.1 on my main drive without any issues. Didn't have to enter my license as per usual and MB showing my lifetime license and has full activation. I was unaware you could only have a lifetime license on only 1 system and don't know why for the last 3 years MB has been working with full activation on both my drives on same PC. The drives have slightly different device names too. Weird...lol.

With my back up drive which is now on a Premium trail period. Will this revert to MB free(if there is such a thing) after the trail period or will I need to buy a license to have any functionality?

  2. I'm still protected on a MB free trial period. I can wait until staff members return for some clarity. When I purchased MB Pro many moons ago, If I remember correctly, you were allowed to have it on 3 systems as long as they were your own personal home computers. I do recall a friend having MB Pro on 3 systems.

When I built my current PC I installed MB on it. At that time, for a short period of around 2-3 months, it was installed on 2 systems with no issues. My laptop and newly built PC. I wiped my laptop and retired it and since then I've had it only on my Desktop PC build. Almost 3 years ago I updated my PC with a SSD and since then I've had MB installed on both drives. My SSD and HDD both on W7. HDD is rarely used and thank you to exile360 for helping me bring it back to it's former glory....Areo theme issue....and so on.

Yesterday when I updated to 3.7.1 it was on my HDD. I use this as a Back up drive, storage and as a test mule for software. I thought I would test drive 3.7.1 before updating my main drive. My SSD is on 3.6.1 which is activated with full protection.

I found this linked page after a search. It suggests that you can only have MB premium on one operating system. I just checked a PM with Liquid Tension from Jan/22 where he said " Lifetime licenses are typically for use on only one computer at a time." I mentioned in an earlier post he said I could have it on multiple drives on same PC. My apologizes for that. I was wrong as he never said that. Oooops.....lol.

Before proceeding any further I would like clarification on this from a MB staff member or anyone else that knows for sure. Can you have a Lifetime license installed on 1 computer on 2 drives? This could be my issue. When I try to activate 3.7.1 it's prompting me to deactivate other device. This is my SSD MB 3.6.1 which is activated on same PC.

    https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-1068

Still can't register my license to manage it on my newly created account on My.Malwarebytes.com. I will need some assistance with this.

  3. I signed up as suggested. Entered my license key and i.d and received a message saying that the license is already registered. Yeh, it's registered to me! So frustrated with MB rite now!

As a long term MB user, Update 3.7.1 is the worst I've come across because of this activation issue. It's Easter long weekend and I got better things to be doing. I'm guessing that the email address I used when I purchased lifetime MB Pro many years ago may have something to do with it, as it's not the same as the one I'm using now. I don't know?

This is even more outrageous then the BSOD's, freezes, lock-ups and crashes I've endured over the MB journey.

Are there any MB staff members that can help me with this?

  4. Hi exile360

Thanks for the uber fast response and for the update that 3.7.1 has license activation issues. Who would of thought...lol.

So sorry I updated MB now and it really feels like MB has dropped the ball with this. We shouldn't have to deactivate and reactivate license after an update.

I will sign up with My.Malwarebytes.com with my current email and see how I go.

  5. Just tried entering my license.

    It won't activate!

This is the error message......Maximum installations allowed.

The usage level has exceeded the maximum installations allowed. There is a problem with your  license key and we are unable to activate your license.

I only have MB installed on 1 PC. My home desktop on my SSD main drive and my HDD back up drive. This how It's been for years and was told by Liquid Tension that it's OK to have MB on both drives on same PC.

I've got no idea what email address I had when I purchased lifetime MB Pro because it was donkeys years ago. I'm one of the originals that helped you guys get to where you are now with that purchase. Back when MB was version 1.xxx

  6. I have a lifetime license and  just manually  upgraded to 3.7.1

Why has my license been deactivated after update?........Asking for activation with a 13 day free trial period.

Why do I have to re-enter my activation keys after this update? I've never had to before unless doing a clean install of MB.

I waited a long time to update MB from 3.6 because of all the previous issues and now there's a license issue! It doesn't surprise me as I've grown used to MB causing havoc after updates but geeeez it's starting to get a little ridiculous.

So do I enter my license or is there a soon to be released update that fixes this issue?

  7. I deleted .NET 3.5 in programs and features then reinstalled. This being one of the many online suggested fixes I tried for CCC not opening. The delete/reinstall corrupted some .NET files. Sorry I wasn’t more specific as to what caused the corruption.

CCC is now opening and working as it should!

Not sure whether it was the .NET 02-2019 update or an AMD micro device driver update install that came up in Windows update that fixed it.

My RAM is good I tested that recently and I don’t think there is anything wrong with my drives but I will check my HDD anyway. Thanks for the info on how to and I will post results.

Do you know anything about the 2019-02 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4486563) not updating? It won’t update through windows update with error 8000fff. I tried repeatedly.

I downloaded the standalone from Microsoft Catalogue. With the standalone there are 2 downloads the actual update and pciclearstalecache application. Do you know what this application actually does?....and should I run the application before the standalone update?

  8. Nothing in that thread worked. Wow! I've lost count how many times I've installed and uninstalled the drivers, with all the different methods. Managed to corrupt .net framework files. Had to repair with sfc.

.net 4.0 is installed and the registry string entry mentioned in the thread you linked did'nt change anything so I deleted it.

I could use some colorful words to describe how painful AMD graphics software/drivers are to install and uninstall. I'm not going to update the driver on my SSD now. If I ever have an issue I will update the graphics card to an Nvidia.

I don't have any of those brightness sliders mentioned. I have the intel drivers installed but I think the AMD drivers, once installed, disable the intel. Only the AMD is visible in Device Manager. My settings in CCC must be the same as before as the screen looks the same. Just going to live with it. I'm sure it's something easy to fix but I've spent days on it and it's just my back up drive.

On start up I would have a UAC show up to allow for CCC start up CLI.exe. This should just start but as it isn't I disabled it with Autoruns logon so it doesn't rub salt in my AMD wounds.

I removed the windows update KB2670838 even though it wasn't installed when I first repaired windows and CCC wasn't opening. It's come up in Windows update as optional. Do you think I should re-install it? I never had any calculator issues with it installed.

Thank you so much for your help.

  9. Yes, I used DDU in safe mode and always have. This isn’t the first time I’ve had problems with AMD graphics drivers and AMD CCC. The latest version of DDU doesn’t run for me so I used an older.

I tried the original driver/CCC software with same result. I deleted everything, including the intel graphics drivers. Re-tried AMD updated drivers after re-installing intel drivers with same result.

All the tricks I could find online for CCC not opening I tried. The only thing I haven’t tried is the AMD beta crimson driver/CCC.

So I now have a repaired windows 7 install that I can’t adjust screen contrast or brightness. Not sure what’s worst. Aero themes freaking out on start up/locking up PC then coming good or a repaired win7 install with no screen adjustments....lol.

Will never be buying another AMD graphics card!

    Thank you for your help.

  10. No matter what I do AMD CCC won’t open. Firstly I updated windows.

I removed all remnants of AMD with DDU and re-installed current drivers and software twice. Which was working fine before windows repair. I’ve deleted CCC software only and re-installed CCC. There are no tokens left over in assembly folder and I’ve tried ending CCC processes in task manager while running.

In task manager CCC.exe is there and when I click on AMD CCC to open it CLI.exe shows up for around 15 – 20 seconds with the mouse pointer wheel spinning then disappears. It just hangs and won’t open, like there is something blocking it.

I’ve tried running CLI.exe from installation folder with same result and disabled MB and windows defender with same.

There are no errors showing up.

  11. Really appreciate your help and the time you have taken with your in depth responses to my posts.

Aero themes working again! No lock ups on start ups!

Nothing worked so I bit the bullet and used the upgrade option on the windows 7 installation disc to repair windows. Must of had something corrupt that wasn't showing on sfc scanow. All my files and programs survived. Well sort of. 🙂  I'm yet to update windows and the only issue I have now is AMD CCC won't open. It's there and the updated driver and software is installed. I just can't open CCC.

Was also under the impression that the monthly windows update roll outs included all previous updates needed.

I had these stand alone s and installed in this order KB3020369 > KB947821 > KB3172605 but windows update is showing 171 updates needed.

Any tips on what I should do with AMD CCC not opening?

    Hello @SubyTooner:

If the system in question has the Malwarebytes 3 settings at default, that 3.6.1.2711-1.0.527 software is queued for an update to 3.7.1.2839-1.0.538 as per the release announcement in the sticky at the top of this sub-forum.

So what your saying is 3.7.1.2839-1.0.538 is no longer Beta and an official update and recommend updating to it?

I have my auto AC Updates switched off on my main drive but enabled on my HDD. I will be doing manual updates on SSD from now on and use my HDD as a test mule.

  13. - 0.010 offset Blued with 124 error and - 0.005 had a core 2 error while stress testing with OCCT. Thanx for the links but after a lot of trial and error playing with different settings the only stable clock is with a + 0.005 offset. I'm really limited with the LE version of this board when it comes to OC'ing as far as available settings/options/adjust ability. I instantly regretted not buying the Pro version after the build in 2013.

Stressing with cpuz or OCCT I'm at 1.274 - 1.288v at load and 0.950v on idle. It spikes to 1.296v using everyday apps but it's stable at load, idle and temps are good so It is what it is. An almost 6 year old build/1g OC'd SB i5-2500k still going OK. 😉

I'm going to have one last go at this Aero theme issue with Autoruns and then tap out.

With Autoruns is the logon tab the start up items? If I uncheck the tick in the box does that disable on start up?

Any suggestions as to what I should start disabling first and what not to disable?

Msconfig is at normal start up and always has been, but yes i did use this to disable everything a while back then set it back to default normal start up.

also rdpclip file not found....that's normal for windows 7 home premium and nothing to be concerned about yeh?

  14. Also with the bios upgrade from 4101 to 4102, the Asus EZ mode page has also got me scratching my head....lol.

With 4101 when over clocked through advance menu it would de select the three options and show advance option changes have been made.

With 4102 it has the normal setting selected with default settings and when over clocked through advance menu. I can't de select it. 😯

  15. Firstly, thank you for your help and if nothing more, I’ve e learnt allot during this process.

The registry delete done the trick for the tray icons and a few icons that had gone walkabout, reappeared.

I figured I would start with the Bios update. I knew of the newer version but had taken the if it aint broke don’t fix it approach and never updated it. I tend to do this with drivers as well, only updating if I have a problem.

What a headache the bios update turned out to be. My OC results on bios 4101, a 4.3g over clock are now slightly different on bios 4102. My board isn't great for over clocking and I used a + 0.005 offset for my cpu voltage with 4101. With 4102 my Vcore with same offset is 0.015v - 0.020v more then what it was with 4101 at maximum. I disabled pll overvoltage which I had set on Auto with 4101 as I was seeing a few voltage spikes to 1.296v. I’m still seing spikes though and the OC is stable. Vdroop is the same with llc set on Auto and C1E enabled. Idle voltage is 0.950v - 1.000v. The voltage peak has me a little concerned as it seems a little high for a 1gig clock with my cpu. Mite try a negative offset but this never worked with 4101 and setting it on Auto had it in the 1.3’s. I almost reflashed back to 4101...lol. So my clock needs more testing with new bios version or I just live with the slightly higher Vcore peak voltage.  The MB stock cpu voltage is 1.250v for both bios version so it has me scratching my head.

Anyhoo start ups are quicker on my SSD and it has resolved my keyboard and mouse issues I was having my on HDD while typing last post. Aero theme issue is unchanged on HDD. The drivers are up to date from Asus website on both drives.

Running the intel driver tool shows everything as being up to date. Results attached from HDD intel scan.

On my SSD I have Avast driver updater installed for s..ts and giggles. I’ve never used it to update anything as I don’t trust it and it shows 16 drivers as being out of date. Running the intel driver tool shows everything as being up to date, even the out of date AMD graphics driver which I haven’t updated on my SSD shows as being up to date.

With Java, I need the 32 bit version installed to run Romraider. An opensource rom editing/logging software. It doesn’t work without 32 bit Java. As far as I know the older Java is removed when updating???  Only new version shows up in programs installed. Can older versions still be somewhere hidden?

With Adobe reader I was unimpressed with the newer DC’s privacy policies and update so I uninstalled it on my SSD and installed adobe v11. I created bUpdater registry entry in FeatyreLockDown and set the value to 0 so it can’t update. I did this on my HDD as well where adobe v10 is installed. Can the older versions be exploited?

I update Adobe flash player regularly through Avast software updater.

What next start up items?....I disabled all start up programs except Avast when it was installed and Aero greyed out. Then I disabled Avast along with all other start ups but Avast kept enabling itself and Aero turned grey.

I remember updating Avast then restarting system as prompted and that was the first time Aero greyed out. Could this have something to do with Avast policy reg keys?

Sorry for the long winded post.

  16. Yeh the window should go away after a few seconds...lol

The graphics card is low end. I don't game and was using the onboard motherboard graphics for the first 3-4 years after I built the PC. I updated to this card toward the end of 2016 and only reason I did was for rendering rom maps in 3d. It's only 2 and a bit years old and everything works fine on my main drive. SSD.

I tune ecu's and the onboard MB graphics was terrible for map 3d rendering. I did'nt need anything fancy and did'nt want to spend big as it's an old build. It's the silent version, the one without the fan. My case has 5 fans so nothing ever runs hot.

This drive is just a back up, storage and test mule. Kinda feel bad for troubling you over it.

Keyboard and mouse is acting up now too not typing properly. Maybe I deleted the wrong key 🤣 it's taken ages to type this. I did make a restore point when starting this thread.

    WP_20190203_01_08_37_Pro.jpg

  17. Still the same. Aero turned grey twice.

There are 3 entries with appcompatcache left.  I deleted one of them ( not sure if it re appeared) and I tried to delete 2 entries with appcompatflags which wouldn't delete but after restarting and doing another scan they're gone.

Maybe I should just format the drive 😯

I have an internet access small window above my toolbar hidden icons that won't go away now.

  18. It starts off with glass theme showing then reverts to grey and will only ever go glass to grey then glass 1 more time. Last start only went grey once and barely locked up.

I was watching hidden icons in toolbar on last start up and it seemed to grey out at the same time AMD CCC and MalwareBytes icons appeared. It's not locking up as bad as before and starts a lot quicker.

I deleted 2 Broadcom drivers and 3 Broadcom logon entries(failed attempts at updating driver) as I no longer use the Asus adapter on this drive via Autorun.

I will run regscanner64 and post results shortly.
