mbar build 1.08.3.1004
redwolfe_98 replied to redwolfe_98's topic in Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit BETA Support
here are some "diagnostic files", in case they are needed.. -
i had issues with "mbar build 1.08.3.1004", the latest version of "mbar".. when i run the mbar EXE file, to extract the program's files, the program's files begin to be extracted but, then, at the end of the process, i get a B-S-O-D!! i tried extracting the files again, to see if the BSOD was repeating, and it was.. it seems wierd, getting the BSOD, since all that is being done is that files are being extracted.. incidentally, it seemed that all of the program's files were successfully extracted, despite the BSOD.. however i didn't try to run the mbar program, after the files had been extracted, since i didn't want to experience another BSOD.. i tried installing the "old" version of "mbar" (the previous version), to confirm that i didn't get a BSOD with it, and the files were successfully extracted.. however, when i tried to run the mbar program, it prompted me to "update" the program, and, when i selected "NO!!", the process just closed.. in other words, i was not able to run the "old" version of mbar! my only option was to download the new version, which doesn't work, at least not on my computer.. when i ran the mbar EXE file, to extract the mbar program's files, i noticed that a "mbamchameleon.sys" file was created in my "drivers" folder, as well as a couple of "services" regkeys that were associated with the "mbamchameleon.sys" file.. i just mention it because, when i ran the EXE file for the "old" version of "mbar", to extract the program's files, the same "mbamchameleon.sys" file, and the associated "services" regkeys, were NOT created (though i was not able to actually run the "old" "mbar" program, as i already mentioned).. incidentally, i just finished "reformatting" my harddrive, doing a "clean" install of "windows xp" et al.. the "mbar" program was the last thing that i had left to install.. i am running "windows xpsp3", the "windows firewall", "avira antivirus premium", "system safety monitor", and ghost security's "regdefend".. also, i recently started using "sandboxie", so it also is running on my computer.. i always disable all of the realtime-protection on my computer when i am installing programs, so none of the programs that i use for realtime-protection would have interfered with my running the "mbar" EXE file, to extract the mbar program's files.. i am attaching the two "minidump" crash dump files that were generated, the two times that i ran the EXE file, to extract the mbar program's files..

hello.. i did a scan, just now, and MBAM 1.75 flagged a "cthelper.exe" file on my computer, which belongs to the "creative labs" software that i have installed, for my "audigy2" soundcard.. the instructions said to attach the file as a zipped file.. so, as is usual, i password-protected it, using the password "infected"..

different people will prefer using different firewalls.. some third-party firewalls: Online Armor Privatefirewall Outpost Comodo Zone Alarm PCTools Firewall Plus just do google-searches for those to find more information about them..

does anyone know if it is OK to run MBAM, in realtime, along with "antivir premium 10", with its "webguard" feature? i would like to try running MBAM in realtime but i have always been concerned that MBAM, with its IP address-blocking feature, might conflict with antivir's "webguard".. having MBAM running, with its IP address-blocking feature, along with antivir's webguard, along with whatever else, might be too much for my computer, messing up its "networking".. i am running win xpsp3, "system safety monitor", the "windows firewall", the "CHXI" packet-filter, and "antivir premium 10".. so, i have got antivir's "webguard" hooked into my computer's "networking".. "system safety monitor" is hooked into it.. the CHXI packet-filter is hooked into it.. with MBAM running in realtime, i guess it would be hooked into it too..

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Trials Reset
redwolfe_98 replied to RubbeR DuckY's topic in Malwarebytes News
rubberducky, i already have MBAM build 1.51.1.1800.. it is kind of confusing when you say that a new build, a build 1.51.1, has been released when i already have build 1.51.1.1800.. when i click the "download" button at the MBAM website it directs me to "download.com".. the version there is build 1.51.1.1800, dated july 14th.. how are people supposed to download the new build? -
mbam is blocking access to ip address 212.117.163.146.. there has been a lot of malicious stuff, hosted within that ip address range, that is why it is blocked.. what website were you trying to access at ip address 212.117.163.146? how was it that you were trying to connect to ip address 212.117.163.146? i don't know but it is possible that something, on your computer, was trying to download malware from ip address 212.117.163.146 unless you were deliberately trying to go to a website that is located at that ip address..

MBAM-n-Antivir Compatibility
redwolfe_98 replied to redwolfe_98's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
thanks -
maybe this has been asked before.. i use avira's "antivir" program, which has a "webguard".. since MBAM's "guard" has an ip-blocking feature (which i think is great), i am wondering if it would conflict with antivir's "webguard"? does anyone know if MBAM's "guard", with its ip-blocking feature, conflicts with antivir's "webguard"? does MBAM's "guard", with its ip-blocking feature, conflict with avast's "webguard", or "webshield", or whatever it is called? i wouldn't be concerned about MBAM's "guard", alone, with its conflicting with antivir, but, with MBAM's ip-blocking feature, i am wondering if there might be a problem..

i kind of agree with siep.. i used to block "bluehost", but found that there were too many legitimate websites, that i use, that were hosted by them, to where it wasn't practical for me to block them.. i can't list the websites, now, because i didn't save a record of them, after removing "bluehost" from my blocklist..

libra, one of the items is from having MS's security center's "alerts" disabled.. i see the same thing, when i do a scan with "malwarebytes", because i have MS's security center's "alerts" turned off.. the one for the IE-homepage is probably due to your having disabled changing IE's homepage settings.. you could have disabled changing IE's homepage settings either with "spywareblaster" (tools) or with "spybot".. the other item that was flagged is due to your using "script sentry", where something was re-associated with "script sentry".. all of the items that were flagged probably are due to changes that you deliberately made to your computer and so they should be added to malwarebyte's ignore-list..

i tried testing "malwarebytes", to see if it was functioning properly, on my computer, using the "eicar.com" test-file, and the "trojan simulator" files, but "malwarebytes" did not flag any of those test-files.. i think "malwarebytes" should add detection for the "eicar.com" test-file, so that people can test to see if the program is functioning properly (which is what the test files are intended for), and they could add detections for the "trojan simulator" files, as well..

Freezing issues

tiger8lion, are you using norton "systemworks"? if so, it has a special "recycle bin" of its own.. maybe it is causing some kind of conflict, there, with your recycle bin.. -

i would try "disabling" the recycle bin and see if that solves the problem.. to do that, rightclick on "recycle bin" and adjust the setting, setting it to "do not move files to recyclye bin".. maybe that will empty the recycle bin of the file that is causing the problem.. -
hello.. i noticed that "malwarebytes" has two programs, the "malwarebytes" program and the "rogue remover" program, wich is confusing, to me.. why do they have two seperate programs, like that? i would think that the malwarebytes program should handle "rogue programs" as well as handling any other malware, so i don't see why they have two seperate programs.. i am interested in using the "malwarebytes" program, but i don't want to have to run two seperate programs in order to be fully protected from malware, including "rogue programs"..
