  1. My UI would not open after updating MBW. I had to do a clean install to get it to work. I did not have any WINDOWs updates. But I did have an update to Avast and after that MWB UI stopped working.

  3. Well, I used the MWB Support Tool to uninstall and reinstall MWB. It made no difference in the scan time. They are still 3 to 4 times longer than before the update to Version:,Components Version: 1.0.976.   4. Some clarification on my original information when I started this Topic…. Since upgrading MWB from Version to the scan time has increased by approx. 3X. It just seems strange that the scan time changes so much. Here is some information that might be informative to understanding what is happening…. This got me thinking……. Is it my machine OR a change in MWB???? Uninstall/reinstall seems drastic but doable Would hate to think every time there is a MWB Upgrade would need to do this.   6. Thank you to everyone for your comments. Just to clarify ... 1) Based on the above information, Does it sound like every thing is OK with Malwarebytes update on my PC? 2) Is there any need for me to Download the Malwarebytes Support Tool and generate a log file to post? Thanks!
  7. On this machine which is Win 7 Professional 64 bit , NO SSD the scan time increased by 8-9 minutes. But it is consistent on all runs , so I guess "it is what it is"! Not sure why it would do that with a Version upgrade , but unless someone has an idea that something is wrong ....? Thanks!
  8. Thanks for your fast reply and all your helpful information. 1) Fast Start is not an issue. So we are good there!:-) 2) I did NOT Manually check for Updates before starting a scan.( never had to before, so did not think to check manually first) Now I know and will be sure to Manually check first. Thank you again for your time and for sharing your expertise. It is much appreciated.
  9. Ran the update, got the all ok message. then restarted the PC. After the restart, MWB had the Malware Protection Turned OFF and would not let me turn it on. Shutdown PC and then started it up. Now the Malware Protection was on. Tried to run a scan , but it got stuck on CHECKING For Updates (20 minutes and counting...), it wouldn't allow me to pause or cancel. I went into task manager and ended MWB. But it was still running "Check for updates" when I opened it. So, I shut down the PC. Restarted PC MWB looked ok, so , then I ran the scan that went for 13 minutes. At this time It seems to be working , but I really don't know how to tell. Your thoughts?
  10. Thank you for your reply. So, the difference in scan time for the first few scans after a new version is loaded it due it setting itself up? Now that things have settled down subsequent scans should be in a more typical range? And it really is working fine? It just seemed strange to go from 6 min(old ver) to 13 mins , then 56 seconds and now to 3 minutes all for approx the same number of files scanned. Just want to get some sense on if it is working, since I had a hard time getting it to work at all after the update. Thank you!
  11. After Updating MWB the Scan times are very different. How do I know if it is really working correctly? Background: Had trouble getting new Version( of MWB to work. After update, rebooted the PC 1) Malware protection was off and would not turn on Shutdown PC and restarted it. 1) Malware protection was on now 2) tried to run a scan, but it got stuck at Checking for updates and after 20 minutes I had to shutdown the PC to make it stop. Restarted the PC then I ran a scan. The first Scan took 13 min which is 2 times what it normally takes. So I ran another scan and it took 56 seconds. So did the next 3 scans for about the same number of files. Shut down the pc and restarted it. Now the scan runs 2 min 54 secs for the approx. same number of files. Date Ver CP scan time number files scanned 7/1/2020 1.0.955 6:45 227007 0) Scheduled , Overnight scan 2-Jul 1.0.955 6:32 227009 1) upgrade, restart, MWB has issues 2 ) shutdown and restart, then the following 2-Jul 1.0.972 12:59 227248 2-Jul 0:56 227227 2-Jul 0:54 227248 2-Jul 0:54 227283 3) shutdown again and restart , then this 2-Jul 2:54 227284
  12. .....just in case this information is of any value. My Dad's PC is running Windows 7 with current updates. Malwarebytes 3.6.1 AVG which is up to date.
  13. Thank you for the opportunity. And I would like to help, but this is a tad above my level of skills. I have been following the other post by AnotherConcernedCitizen and I know I can not do the things that they are doing. I am still very interested in a fix. Thank you for all your help! Side note: My Dads PC must have updated to 1.0.508 and we didn't know it, so had not turned Web Protection off. So when Microsoft pushed out the Monthly updates, it took 4 1/2 hours to download and install 7 updates. 2 1/2 hours to reboot. During which time the PC was unusable. Once the reboot finally came up , I was able to get into MB and turn off Web Protection. Now things seem to be working. I only share for information purposes . So hopefully this will not impact too many others
  14. Just checking...has there been a solution for the Hard Freeze issue with Component Update 1.0.508? I am still running with the Web Protection turned off. Thanks for any update you can offer!
  15. At the moment , with the Web Protection turned off in Malwarebytes, the hard freeze/ dead lock issue has gone away. I am not sure what you mean by "remove AVAST" temporarily? What would that entail? Would that also mean I would turn Web Protection back ON in Malwarebytes? I only have one PC and if it dies I am cut off altogether, so I am not sure I want to risk the hard freeze/ dead lock issue.
