  1. Thanks for this. I had 'notify' checked in settings but no notification of updates from MWB. Anyway, i've done the update now. Any comments of the substantive incident with MWB 4.2.1 that i mentioned? I'm not sure how to roll back MWBAE. I've left Firefox deactivated in 'shields' and unchecked the 'detect penetration testing attacks' setting as advised. A sort of 'belt and braces' i guess? If i get any more peculiar browser behaviour i'll uninstall MWBAE. I didn't know about Firefox ESR. I must admit i hate this constant updating as it usually produces a problem with something, so i may go down that route.
  2. Hi Arthi Thanks. I assume this is a better solution than deactivating Firefox in 'shields'? Would you recommend that i reactivate Firefox in 'shields' when i have unchecked the 'detect penetration testing attacks' setting? Was i correct in assuming this was to do with the MWBAE update? Any comment on the MWB 4.2.1 event that i mentioned?
  3. I had big problems with Firefox this morning - it loaded but simply would not function at all. I spent hours trying to fix the problem but not a even a system restore made any difference. Chrome worked OK but not FF. Then for some reason (i'm by no means expert on computers) it occurred to me to disable Anti-Exploit. Like magic the problem resolved itself. I have since found that if i deactivating Firefox in 'Shields' also solves the problem, although i am not sure if that makes Firefox vulnerable? I came to this forum to ask for guidance and noticed that there has been a very recent upgrade to MWBAE (and i appear to be running 1.13.1.415) so i am of course suspicious that this has caused the problem. I don't know if it's connected, but i then remembered that on a different PC the other day - under MWB 4.2.1 - i had to add firefox.exe to my allow list in order for it to function correctly. I'm a little confused and would very much welcome any comments. Thanks.
  4. Well, i uninstalled 1.09.1.1410 and installed 1.12.1.140 and the problem returned: I can open HP Printer Assistant but as soon as i try to use it MWB AE shuts it down. I get the same error messages as before with a very slight variation for File/Process blocked. I now get: C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe printui.dll,PrintUIEntry \o \n HP DJ 2130 series not C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe printui.dll,PrintUIEntry \e \n HP DJ 2130 series
  5. OK i'll do it and let you know if there are any complications. Thanks.
  6. Hi Arthi - thanks for your efforts. But after running mbae_debugging.bat, the HP application has worked faultlessly. It seems unnecessary to install this build, or is it a routine update that i should install anyway?
  7. I got your PM as an email, but i can't read it properly without signing in and it tells me that my p/w is wrong. Which it isn't because i'm writing this now. Also the link works but tells me there is no file to download. Not much help. I think i'll just uninstall MWB AE.
  8. Thanks - i couldn't see how to but i shoul d have read the thread. Here they are. Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit.zip
  9. Whenever i open this utility i get a message saying MWB AE has blocked an exploit attempt and the application is shut down. Although the HP utitlty has been on my PC for some time this is the first time i have used it. Strangely it worked OK for a while, then the messages started appearing - followed by a shut-down whichever button i pressed in the application. MWB AE gives the following information Application mshta Protection Layer Application Behavior Protection Protection Technique Exploit payload process blocked File/Process blocked C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe printui.dll,PrintUIEntry \e \n HP DJ 2130 series Attacking URL N/A Can you tell me what is going on please?
