  1. Hi, My computer was recently infected by malware and trojans, following downloading a program that a friend suggested. I managed to remove the malware and virus with f-secure and malwarebytes. I even managed to fix google chrome pop-ups with advice given on this site. Now I notice that my windows office has been affected as well. Some file names have been changed. The first two letters replaced with characters ~$ and I cannot open the files. Also when I start any word file, I get the attached message, where I have to click cancel in order to proceed. Then I get the attached message and when I press ok I can open the file. Also, when I try to download from my email excel files and open them up, it says the file is corrupted. Any ideas? Thanks.
  2. Dear Kevin, Many thanks for your detailed and most helpful reply. I followed your steps and still get the same problem, ie whenever I open my chrome browser or a new tab on my browser, there is a pop-up from Malwarebytes with the title 'Website blocked due to PUP'. The domain appears to be technologietazo.com. I am not sure how to stop this as it only happened recently after downloading a file that infected my computer. I would be happy to send you the logs, but since they contain personal information, I would rather not put them in a public forum. Would it be ok to email them to you? Many thanks again. Kind regards, Petros
  3. My laptop was infected by malware and trojans, when attempting to run a program a friend suggested. My browsers (chrome & edge) started to play up, ie pop-windows, search engine results changed etc. Then had a number of programs/apps starting with windows when booting up. My f-secure was not functioning properly as when clicking on its' hyperlinks the browsers were not opening. Some word for windows files have been renamed with the beginning of the file name changed or truncated and the rest remaining as it was. Installed malwarebytes and removed all the stuff that it found (orange or red). Then removed and re-installed f-secure and the browsers. Did full scans with malwarebytes and f-secure and there are no threats. The only thing that now still remains, as far as I can see, is that when I open chrome, I get the attached website block report. I do not know how to correct this and any advice would be much appreciated. Also, would you suggest any other actions to ensure that no harm has been done and no threat remains? Many thanks.
