-
Oh alright! I'll download it and let it scan and attach the log very soon!

With the farbar recovery scan tool do I also let it fix whatever it finds and attach the log or do I just let it scan and attach the log?

Okay so on my laptop this was several months ago probably 6 or more months ago and my dad used the computer (he isn't very tech savvy at all so he didn't know) and he went onto a site to watch football since we don't have tv at the moment and in order for him to watch it (he was following a YouTube guide) and he had to add some weird chrome extension, I thought it was shady and made him stop and removed the chrome extension and somehow it even added yahoo as a search engine even thought the default is Google (but I removed yahoo) and that's all resolved but this PUP called "slimware cleaner" keeps coming back?! I uninstalled it manually and it came back and I got adwcleaner and had the PUP removed more then 5 times at least and it was gone for a long time then it came back earlier today, I noticed cause the adwcleaner saw it in the scan, why does it keep coming back and any idea on how to remove it?

That's really good!!! I personally draw myself! -
I absolutely HATE CAPTCHAs, they are fast and easy one moment then the next moment it doesn't remember my input, I know they have to have them to prevent bots (which it even fails to do that at times) but they feel so inconvenient at now and then..

How do you prevent PUPs?
Hyperwolf122 replied to Hyperwolf122's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
That is actually true, at the moment I can't afford the full version but very soon in the future I will definitely get the full version and along with being more cautious I hopefully won't have any more detections of PUPs in adwcleaner -

How do you prevent PUPs?
Hyperwolf122 replied to Hyperwolf122's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Next time I install software I'll make sure to fully read the terms and services and what softwares it bundles instead of skipping through since I have definitely been guilty of that, can websites also install PUPs? I remember hearing it somewhere but I'm not sure if that's fully a true thing? -
How do you prevent PUPs?
Hyperwolf122 replied to Hyperwolf122's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Yeah that's actually a good idea, i haven't downloaded any software in a long time and I've scanned with the adwcleaner daily do you know how it might've gotten on there? -
So I'm using Malwarebytes, a adblock, malwarebytes adwcleaner, and malwarebytes chrome extension and I thought for sure that PUPs wouldn't get in but I scanned a few hours ago and I got 3 PUPs and I know they aren't malicious but how do you at all prevent them or are they normal? this is more so on just a general question honestly.

I can't tell if my program is safe or not
Hyperwolf122 replied to Hyperwolf122's topic in Resolved Malware Removal Logs
Update: I have now deleted the software, from what virustotal showed with the files it contained and its relations with other files, and cause it was pirated but somehow I didn't think about that when I downloaded it, I was definitely putting myself at risk, thank you for letting me know about this! -

Also I'm unsure but do I just send a screen shot of the log I'm not sure where to find it on virus total or Malwarebytes? -

Hyperwolf122 replied to Hyperwolf122's topic in Resolved Malware Removal Logs
It is just called Paint Tool Sai and I think somewhere I heard from the site that versions similar to it aren't illegal unless you sell them for your own profit but it was just something I heard somewhere probably not offical it I'm definitely thinking of deleting it cause I'm scared of it not being safe, and like in the video it was very popular and everyone in the comments was satisfied and I scrolled for awhile and haven't found one concern in the comments, but yeah I'm highly afraid of it being not safe and cause it's possibly illegal, and I'll try to copy and paste the logs from both here soon -
Hello! So I found a very popular video that had good comments and it showed how to download the art program for free since the actual version is 40$ and I've had it for months and it's not caused at all any issues or shady activity at all and Malwarebytes and Avast both haven't detected it as a threat and out of curiosity I scanned it with Virustotal and some of the files it had were false positives but it was like 3 out of 62 detected it as a threat or 4 out of 50 detected it as a threat and it's that way with quiet a few of the files in the art program and some of the ones that detected it as a threat said it was a trojan or something, are these just false alarms?

What i feel like would be a great idea is a Malwarebytes VPN for computers and mobile devices and it's free but you can get more security by upgrading (like the Malwarebytes program)

so im using malwarebytes and avast and adwcleaner and when i use adwcleaner to scan it shows 1 pup and its pup.legacy even when it shows it removed it it keeps coming back but the pup itself isn't doing anything like i have noticed no strange activity and its been on my pc for a few months when i let adwcleaner scan it shows it again no matter how many time i let it remove it, malwarebytes and avast haven't showed any threats when i let them scan though, should i be worried? if so how do i remove this pup?
