  1. Windows reinstalled. All issues fixed. This topic can be closed. Many thanks for your help.
  2. C:\WINDOWS\Minidump´╗┐ is an empty folder. There are various issues with the laptop that I have discovered: * Windows search not working. * I cannot change the default media player from VLC to Winamp no matter what I do. * Adjusting screen brightness after the laptop wakes from sleep takes ages to respond. I might just have to wait until the next Windows build is released to see if that fixes these issues.

  4. Log attached. Search still isn't working. If I try searching using the box in an already open folder, the window crashes. How did those latest FRST logs look? _Windows_Repair_Log.txt
  5. It is much better although internet is cutting out still. However, I'm not on a known internet connection and won't be until Sunday. I'll test it then. Start Menu > Search > For Files and Folders does nothing. Ie/ clicking 'For Files and Folders' doesn't open any window. How do I fix that? System file checker found no problems. Latest FRST logs attached. FRST.txt Addition.txt
  6. Files are attached. I forgot to turn on System Restore but never mind. Malwarebytes detected CLIENTPROJ.EXE - this is some bespoke software I have and is safe. summary.txt AdwCleaner[C00].txt mrt.log Fixlog.txt
  7. I had some time and nothing to lose (all data is backed up) and I have manually removed any trace of malware I can find. The computer is running much better. Various malware scans now show no infection but the internet is cutting out regularly still. Latest FRST logs are attached. Also, how do I stop the boot menu appearing when the PC starts? I thought I sorted it but it still appears for just shy of a second when it never used to at all. Addition.txt FRST.txt
  8. I thought that might be the case. I'll drop a message back on here a week tomorrow when I have access to another PC again. I can't find too much on what smartservice actually does, ie/ does it mine data or something else? It would be useful to know how careful I should be online for the time being. Thanks.
  9. Got it - thanks. I don't have access to a 2nd computer or flash drive for another week sadly. Is there any other way or something else I can do in the meantime?
  10. Hello. Thanks for this. When clicking 'Fix', it asks for 'fixlist.txt'. Where can I find this file? Best regards.
  11. Using Windows 10. I've had various bits of Malware install on my machine, including Max Video Player and Wajam. It appears I have removed most of it but it has left my PC in a state. Some Wajam files keep coming back though. AVG won't start and I cannot reinstall or uninstall it (click on these buttons does nothing). Even clicking on the freshly downloaded install EXE file does nothing. Windows Update no longer works (error is: 0x80070422) Google Chrome takes minutes to load some websites now. I use Classic Shell for my Start Menu - I can't often get to 'Programs' as it crashes Windows Explorer. I'm thinking reinstalling Windows is the best option but I'd rather not. That being said - going onto 'Settings' and 'Recovery' and trying to reset the PC does nothing. Any ideas?
