  9. Since you were a part of the malwarebytes team, is it possible for you to talk directly to @RubbeR DuckY (marcin) about this, and see what he thinks about this(just a namely suggestion)
  10. To add here, today's world is basically all about making money, so hackers are more into developing ransomwares, for which all the security vendors including malwarebytes are already working 24*7 Atleast, we can say that, Malware was past(though they still might be developed) but Ransomware is future.
  11. I am using BD because, there are some malwares/ viruses that malwarebytes does not targets. It is not that I do not love malwarebytes, and if I would not have loved malwarebytes I would not have used it. You need to understand there are some file extensions that malwarebytes does not target and to get yourself protected against those you need proper Antivirus. As per my knowledge, malwarebytes does not target some viruses, .doc or script based files and many other extension types and this is where a need for Bitdefender comes in.
  12. Also this below link by av comparatives provide information relate to 3rd party antivirus that some of the vendors use. https://www.av-comparatives.org/list-of-consumer-av-vendors-pc/
  13. @Solitario talking about qihoo 360, which uses avira and bitdefender engine, note that even if both of the engines are turned on with respect to qihoo owns engine , they still do not recieve complete (meaning 100% signature based detection). I do not know why, but on personally scanning of about 75000 samples of malware, qihoo enabled with both avira and bitdefender engine detected only around 40000 samples, whereas escan which only uses bitdefender engine detected around 63000 samples and emsisoft which again uses its own engine with bitdefender engine detected around 66000 samples. So what I am trying to say here is that there might be some restriction provided by bitdefender even in sharing its signature based engine with other AV. On personal note I am using bitdefender free (which uses exactly same signature, cloud, heuristic engine as that of its paid version, with same phishing and malicious website blocking technology) with malwarebytes premium.
  14. @dcollins thanks for the link devin, was not aware of that. But from reading the topic I came to know about the way malwarebytes work. It is written that "We mostly rely on other methods, such as hardening, application behavior, and vector blocking defenses that disrupt malware earlier in the attack chain" .This is not only true with malwarebytes, even all other vendors, some of the best in the market like bitdefender, kaspersky, norton and many more also utilize the same technology in their own ways. That said there should be some sort of test regarding this category. I will try to get in contact with av test if they will plan to improve in the way they are detecting the malware which is currently limited to signature based.
  15. Well talking about PUP, there is another antimalware Eset which is as harsh as malwarebytes in detection of PUP and in my own testing better than malwarebytes in PUP detection. SO for me Eset is a complete protection software, but still I use malwarebytes for malicious website blocking since Eset is poor at that.
  16. So AV TEST release the latest test results for windows 10 https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/windows-10/october-2018/ Though Malwarebytes scored good points but still it scored lowest of all others vendors in terms of detection. But still the malwarebytes seems to be a strong and robust protection software but according to me there is still a need of main Antimalware solution to be used alongside malwarebytes.
  17. also this blog from malwarebytes might provide some help : https://blog.malwarebytes.com/cybercrime/2017/12/mobile-menace-monday-upping-the-ante-on-adups-fwupgradeprovider/
  18. you might get some information on this post : https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/231895-pupriskwareautoinsfota/ the staff have replied their to the same topic.
  19. just for information : staff team might also require the sample and vt results in order to check if the malware is detected by the malwarebytes or not, if it is not already detected, they might add a detection against the sample.
  20. I have been using wine from past couple of years on my another PC having ubuntu. But let's get it straight to end the topic, malwarebytes for linux is still not available. For more information I have tagged the experts and staff which might be able to help you further. @AdvancedSetup @exile360 Have a good day.
  21. Also these linux based product can detect windows based malware , the old ones and the file format malware like .doc etc which malwarebytes does not targets.
  22. For sure wine can help you install.exe file on linux OS and stop the windows based malware, but at the same time windows based malware will not do any harm to your Linux because they are only meant to harm windows os and not linux os, installing malwarebytes on linux through wine can only prevent you from malicious websites and that too if premium subscription is available. Well as said earlier you can go and try linux antimalware which are developed for the linux os also which will protect you from malicious websites and linux malware. For general purpose here is the comparison chart for linux antimalware solutions you can go in for : https://www.av-test.org/en/news/linux-16-security-packages-against-windows-and-linux-malware-put-to-the-test/ hope this helps.
  23. Thanks, but I was just seeing as to which member of forum uses which AV alongside malwarebytes. Since I myself use Eset I find it to detect less malware as compared to Bitdefender and Kaspersky. Bitdefender on the other hand seem to be famous from couple of years due to my personal hand on using it for testing purpose and many other companies like emsisoft, fsecure, gdata, iobit, quickheal uses bitdefender signature based engine as its secondary engine. But bitdefender itself is quite heavy.
  24. Which antivirus are you using with malwarebytes ?
