  1. I am truly grateful to have found this forum and all the awesome people who volunteer their time fighting the Dark Side. Special thanks to deltalima for the personal and expert attention to my issues. I can happily report that I am 100% back up to speed. Undoubtedly, had I not found you kind people, I would have spent countless agonizing hours and tons of money ridding my laptop of it's infection. You have confirmed my faith in the goodness of humans. I wish everyone here a magical Thanksgiving. I'll eat some Tofurkey on your behalf! Love and Peace, dmccartney
  2. Hello deltalima, I've run the TFC program. The computer was a bit slow booting up afterwards, but it seems to be OK now. I would appreciate some advice about which anti-virus software I should use. I've seen quite a few recommendations from sites I found via this forum, and that just adds to the confusion. I'm currently running McAfee version 9.15.160 - it did not prevent the recent infection. I realize nothing is 100% fool proof, but I do want the most robust protection available. Any input would be most appreaciate. I hope you had a magical weekend. Cheers, Dottie
  3. dl~ I'm away from my (personal) computer until Sunday. I'll take this next step when I get home. Should I run another HJT or Kapersky scan in addition? My computer seems to be back to normal. I do want to get everything icky off it altogether though. You've been awesome! Thanks. Dottie

  5. Good morning deltalima, It will be tomorrow night before I will be able to complete all of the next steps. I've started, but must head out to work now. Tonight I am going to a show (Bela Fleck!!) and won't be home. Thanks for everything so far. Dottie
  6. Greetings deltalima, I've run everything as instructed. It *appears* that my laptop is OK. However, when I rebooted the system performed a checkdisk, afterwards it hour glassed for about 5-7 minutes before finally loading up. That was pretty scary. Additionally, there are now a couple of things in my system tray that are not normally a part of the start up: Windows messenger (which I never, ever use) and my camera's software program. Please let me know what you think and if there are any additional actions I should take. Thanks, Dottie Malwarebytes log file: I removed the infected files, although you did not instruct me to do so. 9. This afternoon I ran a quick scan, then a full scan. Three items were removed. (From the coffee house, as I can't connect with my personal computer at work.) It seemed to have removed the ickyness. When I got home and turned my laptop on it was back. I ran a second full scan and then the Hijack This. That was very tricky. It was trying to block the program, but I was persistent and finally got it to install. Results of all are below. There is an icon in my system tray and a lot of pop ups saying my computer is infected. Along with a lot of lovely porn sites courtesy of IE. Any help from you awesome people would be most appreciated. Hi

Greetings from a local coffee house. I'm here drinking a latte and running a full scan. Which is kinda fun, except that these *adult* websites keep popping up. Apparently I'm infected with Antivirus System PRO So yeah, I'm typing in a teeny tiny little window so as to not scare the kiddies and the easily offended. I have total confidence that you lovely people will be able to help. So you'll probably see me in the HTL thread soon.
