Well, after downloading and running ADWCleaner, and rebooting the computer when requested, I was confronted with a momentary BSoD and then the reboot cycle started again. This continued endlessly...
I tried using the Recovery Console, but it could find nothing to 'repair,' and I disable the Windows System Restore when I install, so that was no help, either.
Finally ended up just reinstalling Windows, *sigh*
Thank You for all your help, Yoan :) - Unfortunately this one was just too insidious to get rid of.
This is only the second malware attack I've suffered in my 33 years of computing, so I think I'm pretty lucky ;-)
