Thanks for the fix and comms :-)
Sorry for the delay in replying - busy work period.
This morning I successfully installed WSL with Ubuntu on my machine with the latest MWareBytes official download and I was able to run and complete the sudo command in the original post. No error messages from either WSL or MWareBytes.
FWIW: I am a unix novice and I only want WSL as a simple learning environment.

Hi - does the new MWB premium release 3.4.4 now have proper WSL support? I can't see it mentioned in the release notes:

FWIW I also think this screen should be modified or removed.
At the very least it needs a "what does this mean?" button to save the 10 - 15 mins of searching to understand that it is has no functional implications and that a Premium Licence can be installed for either "home" or "work".
