Hi, Over the weekend, I was infected with a virus which uses a Java backdoor to install itself. I ran Rkill.exe to kill it and then MBAM full scan to remove it. MBAM found about 25 infected objects, a mixture of things in temp files, registry problems, etc etc. I did as it told me and was instructed to do a reboot in order to finish the cleaning process. It was after this that I got the Black Screen of Death on bootup, followed by a motherboard beep and a reboot. I did a system restore in the recovery console and this allowed me to boot to the Black SOD and keep it stable. Explorer.exe doesn't and won't run, but I can use task manager and launch software through it, etc. I have checked the registry and the key for Shell is explorer.exe when I access it from within Windows, but cmd.exe/k start cmd/exe when I access it from the recovery console :S It seems that the Black SOD after an MBAM scan is a known issue with some Vista systems, and I would be very grateful if I could get some support with sorting it (because the only other option atm is to reinstall Vista and format my pc :S) Thanks very much in advance, Matt
