  1. Before I got your response, I tried combofix. It took a few tries but that seemed to work - I was able to isolate the files and quarantine those which then was enough to allow me to run MBAM. I did a full scan, through which it found a few more infected files and I then was able to delete those. So far so good - seems like everything is back up and running. Thanks
  2. Forgot one other important point: I downloaded the HJT tool. I attempted to run it BUT....it didn't generate a log in Notebook. Just kicked me back to the desktop. I tried to open it again by clicking on the "Hijack This" icon on the desktop and it wouldn't open. In fact, I got the same error I get when I try to re-open the Malware Bytes software: "windows cannot access the specified device, file or path. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them."
  3. First off, I can't boot up unless I'm using safe mode. So, that led me to get the Malware software. However, I can't get Malware to scan my hard drive. I download it, and then hit scan, and it starts for about 2 seconds and then closes down on me. After that happens, I then can't even open up the Malware software - I get an error saying it doens't exist. I've tried a bunch of the recommendations and nothing is working (renaming the .exe file, a few other scan tools, etc). From what I can tell through the (very annoying) pop ups on my screen and the fact that I get redirected to sites other than those for which I've typed in the URL, I'm infected with Anti-Virus Pro 2010. Suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.
