Finally able to resolve the problem after some research on Microsoft support site and googling . AppData registry value under "HKCU\software\microsoft\windows\currentVersion\explorer\User shell folders" was incorrect. changed the registery value to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming and it worked. Anyway thanks for your help.

Uninstalled McAfee and ran MCPR. Still MalwareBytes won't install, it's giving the same error... no change. It's turning from bad to worse, now I don't even have antivirus. thanks for all your help.

Thanks for the help. I couldn't download DDS as it's getting blocked by McAfee as a trojan. couldn't figure out how to disable McAfee.

I am not able to install malwarebytes on my system. It appears my system is already infected.
