  1. BryanJ, I don't know what to tell you to do. It should activate if your 3.0 license key and ID were accepted. You may need to contact Malwarebytes support directly for an answer. Al
  2. jeebus, My Kaspersky Total Security normally shows around 51 MB active in the task manager but it is a 164 MB program during installation. Plus, it is going to use more storage for its data files. It's possible that MB is like an old style program where it allocates all the memory at one time instead of "growing" as it runs. Since it's now both an anti virus and anti malware program it will be using more memory than it did when only an anti malware program. Al
  3. Beldin_13, There are some parameters for MB which must be cleared out. Uninstalling the program and reinstalling it seems to take care of the problem. Although the version numbers are the same, some work and some don't. I had all the right numbers but the program still didn't function correctly. BryanJ, I hate to have you do it again but try the uninstall from the following link: https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-1034 As for Windows 10 updates, you can disable them by using the Windows Update service. Via Control Panel > Administrative Tools, you can access Services. In the Services window, scroll down to Windows Update and turn off the process. To turn it off, right-click on the process, click on Properties and select Disabled. That will take care of Windows Updates not being installed on your machine. (Turning off updates is not good for your machine). Al
  4. jeebus, My Windows 10/64-bit shows 4MB in the Malwarebytes Tray Application and 188.1MB in the Malwarebytes Service. This is about normal for the program. Al
  5. beldin_13, The update probably won't work with the Malwarebytes on your machine. This has been a problem since they pushed out 1.0.3806. While running MB, I copied my ID and Key from the account, uninstalled MB, downloaded it from their site and reinstalled it. Then, I put the key & id back in, did an update and Hyper Scan and all is well again. The update came as 1.0.3807 and functioned. Since then another update has arrived, 1.0.3808 and it also functions. Al
  6. beldin_13, In the Cortana search box, type run. A window will open and at the top it will show "Run" . Left click it and a box will open. Inside the box, type msconfig and click OK. When the page opens, go to the services tab and find Malwarebytes Services. Uncheck the box to the left of it and then left click OK. Allow the machine to reboot and it will come back up with Malwarebytes disabled. Your machine will then be operating normally again without Malwarebytes. Al
  7. BryanJ, The only way to correct the problem is to uninstall Malwarebytes, download it again from their site and reinstall it. After the first update, there will be a red mark on the M because it wants to do a scan. Do the Hyper Scan and you should be good to go. And, yes the now current update is 1.0.3808 and will work properly after the re-installation. (Dig out your License Key and, if needed, the License ID so you'll have them handy after the reinstall).
  8. lindamine, You can try running the program services.msc . Once it loads, find the section Malwarebytes Service. Left click on it and then in the upper left corner, Stop the service. Once stopped, Restart it and you should be OK after a reboot. Al
  9. Hi GavinP, Beginning with Windows 7, Microsoft wanted computers to boot quickly like those do which are running other operating systems. To accomplish this, they cause the machines to "hibernate" their programs/settings and reload the hibernated OS on a new power up rather than load a new current/updated OS. This will cause things which have failed to continue failing even after powering the machines off and back on. To repair this problem, go to the Control Panel, select "Power Options", on the left side select "Choose what the power buttons do" and then select "Change settings that are currently unavailable". Under Shutdown Settings, uncheck the box "Turn on fast startup (recommended)". This will allow your computer to completely shut down and reload the updated operating system the next time you power it on rather than load a hibernated version which might not be updated. Al
  10. Malwarebytes Version 3.3.1.2183, Component package version: 1.0.262, Update package version: 1.0.3806 (said there were no updates available and did not function)! After uninstalling the program, downloading and installing it again, the versions become: Malwarebytes version 3.3.1.2183, Component package version: 1.0.262, Update package version 1.0.3807 (says there are no updates available but DOES function). On another machine, Malwarebytes version 3.0.0, Component package version 1.0.212, Update package version 1.0.3807 (says there are no updates available but DOES function).
  11. Well all our machines are running Windows 10 not 7. Uninstalling and re-installing the program is not an option as over twenty friends are having the same problem. The best fix is to boot the machine, (either normally or into the safe mode), run the msconfig program, go to the services tab, unselect Malwarebytes service and then reboot the machine. Once you do this the program will not load and the problems it causes will be ended. Window 10 has Windows Defender built into it which will provide anti virus and anti malware protection until MB can repair their program. (The Windows 10 Defender is not the same program as in earlier versions of Windows).
  12. The original "fix" worked OK. This morning our computers were frozen again. It seems that during the night MB updated to 1.0.3806 which is NOT functioning properly again. It will not turn on protection, has a red triangle in the M and keeps showing an orange & white box saying protection is turned off. I tried restarting and turning the machines off at least a dozen times plus tried exiting the program and restarting the machines to no avail. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE and needs to be repaired immediately! Fortunately the machines can still be used which is a step up from yesterdays debacle.
