  7. If you have updated the definitions on the working computer, and copied the rules.ref file to the infected computer (overwritten its rules.ref file), you can be assured that the scan is working with the latest database As I mentioned at the end of my previous post, the new database version will not be reflected on the GUI in case of a manual update.
  8. Do you have a corporate license? If so, you can send an email to corporate-support@malwarebytes.org to get assistance.
  9. Welcome to the forums, Gators The mbam-rules.exe is always a bit behind. If you have access to a working computer with MBAM installed on it, you can follow these steps from http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=10138&st=0&p=49525entry49525 ISSUE: I need to get the latest database onto a computer that cannot access the Internet. SOLUTION: You can manually copy the database from a working computer using a flash drive or CD onto the infected PC. Our database file is stored in the following locations. Windows XP and 2000 C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref Windows Vista and Windows 7: C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref (Just as an information: the GUI will not display the changed database version if you do a manual update)
  10. Welcome to the forums darren I'm sorry to hear that your friend isn't able to post. Did he receive a confirmation email after registering here? Please tell him to also look in the Spam Folder, not only in the Inbox. After confirming his email address, he should be able to post. Let us know if this solves the issue, otherwise a forum admin might be able to help. Before posting, please let him read this, so that he can post the correct logs in the correct section of the forums in order to get help from a trained helper: http://forums.malwarebytes.org//index.php?showtopic=9573 As we don't deal with malware removal in this General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum, he needs to start a topic in the Malware Removal forum Thank you

  12. From your logs it appears to me that your drive might be full, if this is true, this might be the reason why you can't install it properly. Could you double check how much space you have left by opening Windows Explorer, right clicking on your drive C: and view its properties? EDIT: Oops, sorry, didn't want to interfere
  13. Yes, this was a false positive that was reported earlier today and has been fixed Glad to hear that your issue is solved, and you're most welcome.
  14. Welcome to the forums George_S This has been an issue that should be resolved in the meantime. Please update your database, and rescan. Let us know if the problem still remains.
  15. The mbam-clean.exe will remove Malwarebytes completely, and ask you to restart your computer. After your computer has restarted, you need to temporarily disable (not uninstall!) your antivirus program, so that it doesn't interfere with the installation of Malwarebytes. If you're unsure how to temporarily disable your antivirus, can you tell us which one you are using so that we can help you with that?
  16. No, the free version doesn't appear in the system tray.
  17. Thanks for the laugh after a long hard day at work!
  18. Hi Drum, As I said before, you don't need to download that Uploader to which you have posted the link. You can just go to http://www.virustotal.com/ and there you have an interface to upload the files one by one. Click Browse, navigate to the first file in question, then click Submit. The results of scans with multiple antivirus programs will be displayed if you wait patiently. Then do the same with the second file The results would really be helpful to decide whether the two files are legit or not.
  19. Welcome to the forums WrinkledMind Question 1) We don't work on Malware removal or diagnostics in this subforum. Please print out, read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance as soon as possible. After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post. Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org Question 2) For XP, Service Pack 3 has been out for a long time. Keeping your Windows up-to-date is one of the important steps to prevent infections. Question 3) It's difficult to judge what causes it. If it's due to an infection, your expert will help you in your topic with that. Question 4) No, Malwarebytes is not a replacement for a good antivirus software, it's meant to provide an additional layer of security.
  20. The license is valid for 1 computer only. You'd need to purchase a second license for the full version for your second computer
  21. Some rogues can be indeed pretty stubborn nowadays. Exile360 has listed some alternative methods to try if MBAM can't remove them the usual way: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=85715 Maybe these can help you with removing them.
  22. Since you haven't told what you have already tried to fix it, first off a simple question: Did you try to reboot the machine with the lan cable plugged in?
  23. GIMP is a free image manipulation program which can also be used to draw You can read about its features on the official website here: http://www.gimp.org/
