  2. Trying to fix my elderly stepdad's computer: I just ran MBAM and removed several stubborn hijackers/redirected hosts but I still can't access the internet. I ran the diagnostic test and got this message: "Windows cannot connect to the Internet using HTTP, HTTPS or FTP. This is probably caused by firewall settings on this computer. Check the firewall settings for the HTTP port (80), HTTPS port (443) and FTP port (21). You might need to contact your Internet service provider (ISP) or the manufacturer of your firewall software." I have tried to turn off the Windows firewall; when I go into the firewall settings I am able to select the turn it off button, but when I go back to the main security screen it still shows as being on. Any suggestions on how to proceed? (I recently installed NOD 32 trial version and everything was working fine until latest attacks. I am currently connected to his machine with Log me in, so I know the internet is working, but I don't know why he can't connect to the Internet from his machine.)
  3. I got the vundo trojan problem yesterday, possibly from facebook or an nfl site. I've been reading the posts on here, so even though I couldn't initially run malwarebytes I renamed the exec file from my laptop and brought it over to my infected desktop. I've run malwarebytes and detected 8 to 16 lines of vundo twice now, but it keeps coming back. Additional details: I initially tried to run spybot and when it got to the vundo check, it tells me I should reboot and rerun the scan. When I ignore that it goes for a while longer and eventually shuts down to the blue screen of death. But the one time I let it attempt to reboot, it also went to the blue screen. Once I got Malwarebytes successfully operating, it scans just fine. I also have Ad-Watch running in the background. That was how I was able to originally identify the vundo trojan, because it was notifying me of quick, repetitive changes to my registry, which led me to research the problem online and end up at this forum. Here's my Hijack this Log. I have repeatedly deleted the 020 AppInit_DLLs. This is the third one now and each time it's a different named dll file. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
