  1. When are things going to slow down with these component package updates? It feels like I'm doing one once a week which seems like a lot compared how often we had them with version 3 which was like once a month.
  2. Yeah I don't agree with Exile. You should always manually check for updates atleast once a day. I typically do it every morning before I open my browser to check my email. This morning I manually checked for updates and Malwarbytes asked for a restart. Why? Because the component package version needed to be updated today. Yesterday it was version 1.0.717. After the restart it's now on version 1.0.718.
  3. The update function should have never been removed from the front of the UI in my opinion.
  4. You weren't alone OP. For about three or four weeks the (MB 3.8.3.2965 Component package 1.0.627)malwarebytes tray app was also crashing whenever I ran a threat scan for some reason. Was this issue identified? I've been using the Malwarebytes 4 Beta the past 5 days like LiquidTension suggested and I haven't seen any crashes during scans.
  5. Anyone know when the official version for 3.8 will be released?
  6. That's puzzling. MWB has added a bunch of new features over this years. Why does this one have to be plastered over the UI when the others weren't?
  7. Yes it's my preference and thank you for your understanding.
  8. That's fine. But I don't want or need advertisement in front of the UI. I want it removed. That's not an unreasonable request.
  9. Same thing here as well. What do you mean nothing to get rid of? Why would I want advertisement right in front of the UI? Especially for (gaming)something I don't even plan on using.
  10. That makes me think there could a third party software that's conflicting with MWB on both your systems. My guess is at some point you're going to be asked to perform a clean boot. About 2-3 years ago I had to perform a clean boot to find out what was causing malwarebytes to crash on my PC and eventually found out the culprit was Dell's backup and Recovery software. Best of luck. I hope this problem gets solved for you.
  11. The mbamservice is also crashing on reboot for me as well. The only way it hasn't crashed on reboot for me is when I disable the self protection module before reboot.
  12. It's been over a month and I don't see a fix coming anytime soon. This is a bad look for malwarebytes.
  13. I use Avast as well. Have you tried disabling HTTPS scanning? Click menu> settings> components Then click customize on the same tab as the web shield. Then uncheck enable HTTPS scanning. It might help you.
  14. Or downgrade to 3.4.5 and you don't have to bother with disabling the web protection shield and leaving yourself vulnerable.
  15. Installing 3.4.5 over top 3.5.1 is a puzzling decision. But whatever works for you I guess.
  16. I'm currently using 3.4.5. I've tried turning off application updates but they won't stay turned off.
  17. It's fine. I'll just downgrade to 3.4 until it's released.
  18. No arguments there. But if he goes that route the safer bet would be updating his drivers through Dell.com/Drivers instead of through Intel.
  19. I had to update my BIOS last Sunday. Since then I haven't had any BOSD's but I'll continue to monitor this thread.
