  1. You got further than me once my computer locked up. My mouse was completely unresponsive. There was no other option but a hard reset
  2. I get the feeling this more was complex than my browser stalling out. My entire system froze and nothing was responding. I've been using Firefox the past two hours with Malwarebytes uninstalled and it's been smooth sailing with no issues.
  3. Only one tab in firefox was open. I was using version 4.1.2.73 component 1.0.979. I had no freezes until this past recent update on Friday to 1.0.979. I''m going to wait until Tuesday to reinstall malwarebytes. I just want to test out if this issue reoccurs without malwarebytes for a short time.
  4. It was Mozilla Firefox. It did not show "not responding" at the top of the browser. I tried multiple ways to open the task manager to attempt to close Firefox but unfortunately everything was frozen. I forgot to add I'm using Win 8.1.
  5. I was browsing the web and My PC just randomly locked up as well. I had no other option but to do a hard reset. Found this thread so I guess I'm not the only one. I'm going to keep Malwarebytes uninstalled for a few days and see what happens. After that I'll install it back and disable the ransomware shield.
  6. I received 1.0.920 a few minutes ago but I have beta updates turned off.

  8. while I was browsing the RealGM forums yesterday and today I started receiving these Malvertising alerts. I searched the domain through virustotal and everything came back clean. https://www.virustotal.com/gui/url/6a14bdba2b3e1f0b03db2c385b884c4c9ca4eb3d51183f0ef8a8dc52dae6f9f7/detection Could this be a false positive? MB Block.txt
  9. This morning I've been seeing this domain blocked on startup. Even before I open my browser. I'm not sure what's happening. I attached it below. Blocked Domain.txt
  10. You can defer feature updates. You have a few options.
  11. Give Windows 10 a shot. As long you're performing backups(as you should be doing with any OS anyway) you will be just fine.
  12. I'm also an avast user that experiences the tray app crashing(not often) on startup sometimes. I have all my exclusions for both. If I turn off the self -protection the tray app never crashes. My question is their any way to reproduce this issue to find a possible fix? While I hear you Avast is another layer of protection that makes exposing the self-protection more difficult. I still prefer to have the self -protection enabled just to be on the safe side.
  13. When are things going to slow down with these component package updates? It feels like I'm doing one once a week which seems like a lot compared how often we had them with version 3 which was like once a month.
  14. Yeah I don't agree with Exile. You should always manually check for updates atleast once a day. I typically do it every morning before I open my browser to check my email. This morning I manually checked for updates and Malwarbytes asked for a restart. Why? Because the component package version needed to be updated today. Yesterday it was version 1.0.717. After the restart it's now on version 1.0.718.
  15. The update function should have never been removed from the front of the UI in my opinion.
  16. You weren't alone OP. For about three or four weeks the (MB 3.8.3.2965 Component package 1.0.627)malwarebytes tray app was also crashing whenever I ran a threat scan for some reason. Was this issue identified? I've been using the Malwarebytes 4 Beta the past 5 days like LiquidTension suggested and I haven't seen any crashes during scans.
  17. Anyone know when the official version for 3.8 will be released?
  18. That's puzzling. MWB has added a bunch of new features over this years. Why does this one have to be plastered over the UI when the others weren't?
  19. Yes it's my preference and thank you for your understanding.
