  1. Woohoo!!! I think that fixed it! Defender and Malwarebytes are both running updates and seem happy. Thanks for your help, you're my hero! Gees, I'm too old to worry about this kind of thing! I sure appreciate your time and effort. Thanks so much.
  2. No, as I said before, the screen will not let me access that particular control..
  3. I did the things you asked me to do but you should know I'm running Malwarebytes Premium on this machine. Hopefully I can attach the files i created as you requested. As I mentioned before, I'm a 69 yr old senior with limited tech skills..... FRST.txt Addition.txt mb-check-results.zip
  4. But when I tried to do that, that section of choices is not available. It is grayed out. What other settings do I need to modify in order to make that an option?
  5. While cleaning out email from my small laptop which is running Windows 8, I noticed Windows Defender wasn’t updating. When I tried to open it, I get a box saying it is not turned on. I’m an elderly person with limited knowledge of what happened but after going through the painful process of trying to troubleshoot it, I discovered Malwarebytes as my virus software. Should I be concerned this happened without my permission and if I’m not comfortable with this, how do I reactivate Defender?
