  1. I tried disabling scan rootkits, archives, signatureless anomaly detection, changed PUPs to ignore - and disabled all real time protections, but it still freezes (this time on Heuristics). One thing I noticed is that when the real time protections are on, not only Malwarebytes hangs, but also my whole system slows down when the scan freezes. But even with real time protections off, I still couldn't 'cancel' the scan and I had to force-close the service in task manager in order to be able to restart it. My CPU is an old Phenom 9850 (but no other programs seem to cause this kind of hang).
  2. When I run Malwarebytes 3, it always stalls during the Threat Scan. It gets stuck scanning one file (seemingly a different one each time). When it freezes, my whole system slows down until I force-close Malwarebytes (even though CPU stays only around 10%). Browsers, files etc. take about 1 minute to open and are barely usable. This could be a bug rather than infection - kevinf80, Expert from the Malware Removal for Windows Forum here helped me remove an infection, but suggested I also post a thread here about the hang issue. Original thread: Malwarebytes 2.2 (from bleepingcomputer) runs fine and completes the scan with the latest malware database, finding no infections. I found a post on another forum from December 2016, with some people who had a similar problem and were able to run v2. One suggested it might be an issue with certain Windows 10 builds on certain computers. New MB-Check log: mb-check-results.zip
  3. Version 3 stalled again (on Startup objects, instead of File System this time), so maybe it's just a bug with the new version rather than an infection?
  4. I tried Malwarebytes version 2.2 from bleepingcomputer and it completed the scan and found no threats. Then I ran Adwcleaner and it found 2 PUPs'PUP.Optional.Legacy' which I cleaned (see log) Then I ran Adwcleaner again and it was clear. Then I ran MSRT and it found nothing. mb v2 scan results.txt AdwCleaner[C0].txt AdwCleaner[S1].txt mrt.log So seems I'm clean? Now I will uninstall mb v2.2, run mb clean, and try to reinstall Malwarebytes version 3 and see if it will complete...
  5. None of the chameleon files ran - they all just brought up the command window for a short time.
  6. I ran mb-clean as instructed (log attached) including reboot - but the fresh install of Malwarebytes still stalls (at the start of Scan File System; seems to stall on different files each time). mb-clean-results.txt
  7. This log made by mbam-check was the closest to what you requested (it made a zip file with different files and logs in it). mb-check-results.txt
  8. I disabled all non-MS services in a clean boot but Malwarebytes still stalled. What can I try next? Thanks for your patience.
  9. I uninstalled Spybot properly but Malwarebytes still stalls at Scan File System.
  10. I found a thread from Dec last year of people who had the same problem with Malwarebytes stalling. A workaround for someone at the time was to use an older version of the software. So now I'm wondering if your instructions have worked to remove the malware and it's just Malwarebytes not working with my computer or something. https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/193013-scan-repeatedly-gets-stuck-at-scan-file-system/
  11. I deleted the Roguekiller entries, log attached. I ran Rkill. Not sure if it found anything. log attached. I ran Malwarebytes but it still stalled in Scan File System. Thanks. rk_3A10.tmp.txt Rkill.txt
  12. Ok, here is the report. I haven't deleted any yet. 13. The Malwarebytes scan still gets stuck but no threats were identified this time before it stalled, and it got past rootkits, startup, memory etc and stalled on the second last circle (file system or whatever it's called).
  14. That's done. One threat was found and cleaned up on the 1st scan, and no threats were found on the 2nd scan. Logs attached. mbar-log-2017-09-28 (15-51-48).txt mbar-log-2017-09-28 (16-26-35).txt system-log.txt
  15. Thank you very much. I ran FRST with fixlist and attached fixlog. I started Malwarebytes, selected those settings and started the scan. It has got stuck at Scan Startup Files (it has stayed at 3177 items scanned for over 30 minutes). 6 threats were identified, similar to my screenshot from the first post (I attached another screenshot). It is still running but it doesn't look like it will progress. My whole system has slowed down - browsers, programs and files take about 1-3 minutes to open but are then usable. Even though my system is very slow to respond, CPU usage stays at only around 10%. I didn't do any further steps (Adw, Microsoft tool) since the Malwarebytes hasn't completed. Fixlog.txt
  16. Hi, I ran a naughty .exe file (the file was naughty; not me - it was meant to be a dumbphone restoration tool for corrupt firmware). When I run Malwarebytes, it always stalls during the Threat Scan. It gets stuck on one file (maybe a different one each time (?)). The screenshot I included shows the 8-or-so 'hijack.autoconfigurl.prxysvrrst' entries that show up before it hangs. When it gets stuck, my whole system slows down until I force-stop Malwarebytes. The other symptom is occasional browser redirects and pop-ups. Please help. I really appreciate it. This forum helped me once before, years ago. FRST.txt Addition.txt I don't know where to find Threat Scan logs ('Reports' is empty - maybe due to the hang problem (?)). Thanks.
