  1. My next suggestion required the disks http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm However it would be best to use a slipstreamed cd with sp3 in it
  2. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/N...Check-3619.html This is one area I specialize in, it's a useless feeble attempt to control a hosed system bus by the likes of sonic etc. You can disable it in startup If you didn t have nero installed and were using a reliable scanner then it might be malware
  3. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/g...lper-23382.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Flash Flash is a program I use, adobe updater I can do without Toolbars are much more of a problem, one is bad enough, 2 or 3 and you will usually have problems
  4. Most programs will not be much larger installed, than the installer Drive space can significantly affect performance TreeSize Free Here's a small program that let's you see where all the drive space goes http://www.jam-software.com/freeware/index.shtml
  5. I suggest running a new scan with MBAM, but make sure it's updated to the latest definitions
  6. I wasn't worried about it, now if it changed my computer's date, that would be cause for alarm I just about gave up on internet time tho
  7. Go ahead and install the extra security programs, but remember they will impact performance, some much more than others That's why I like Spybot's sdhelper and immunization, I can hardly tell they are installed
  8. Removing AOL doesn't come easy, if you aren't using it except for AIM please try. Even if it breaks AIM then that part can be reinstalled seperately
  9. Good eye, I just updated a few hours ago and didn't notice
  10. The registry is so complexe and becomes cluttered with loose ends over the years, it's almost impossible to keep it uncorrupt. And it's so critical, it's best left alone, I try to trust a few programs like MBAM in there. Sometimes to uninstall a program you have to reinstall it first. Are you noticing any improvement with your computer?
  11. Let's do a disk cleanup, take out any personal junk/trash, flush those restore points again(only keeping the new one you just created) and then defrag.
  12. I have probably handled more than 500 filter driver posts in 5 or 6 forums in the last several years, it's been my experience that it's best to let certain select programs do the registry editing when helping unknown users online. There's only a few programs I trust enough to let into the registry.
  13. I prefer to stay out of the registry altogether http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben...p;x=12&y=13 use guided help http://www.bustrace.com/products/devfilter.htm post log for analysis http://www.imgburn.com/ download/install and post filter driver load order remove problematic filters
  14. Is this xp pro or home? It looks like we need to do some repairs Do you have any disks that came with your computer?
  15. Would you post a fresh log from an updated MBAM scan please
  16. What UAC program did you install? So you use all those toolbars?
  17. Let me quote LightningUK, the author of Imgburn, I am a betatester, "packet writting software is pure evil"
  18. http://freepctech.com/pc/xp/xp00120.shtml Incd is a useless process and nothing but trouble
  19. I would keep Itunes if you use it, you need to update to the latest versions as it has a buggy past http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/uninstall/ Here's another search tool
  20. Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This changed from what we know in 2006 read this article: http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546 I suggest you remove the program now. Click on start > run > and then paste the following into the "open" field: appwiz.cpl and press OK. From within Add or Remove Programs uninstall the following if they exist: Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player.
  21. The startup list is another place to attack crud loading http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/c...n.exe-1121.html These are a little more dangerous or complicated to remove than just removing/uninstalling a program
  22. It might be part of this, but a registry cleaner may have removed it from add/remove Kodak Gallery Easy Upload Manager Class hxxp://www.kodakgallery.com/downloads/BUM/BUM_WIN_IE_2/axofupld.cab
  23. We may have to make several passes thru the steps in that guide I listed, don't get hung up on any one part, you have way too many programs to find a few that may be causing problems. Malware is not the only thing that can corrupt a computer.
  24. http://www.malwareremoval.com/tutorials/runningslowly.php start with remove unnecessary programs
