  1. http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=17583 Here's one example of how recent malware blocks executables, but why do you think it's primarily Smitfraud? Just because someone doesn't understand a poorly constructed question, is no reason to insult them. The MBAM support staff is extremely competent, which is something rare with help desks.

  3. In the continental USA
  4. Something with character
  5. That would be a good subject for a post in the PC Help forum here, many succeed in rescuing pictures, music, video, etc. Many also immediately reinfect themselves by having saved virut infected files.
  6. 2 : a red powder consisting essentially of ferric oxide used in polishing glass, metal, or gems and as a pigment http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/rouge I had to work on my spelling a lot when I started posting in forums several years ago, I am still working on it.
  7. The infector was attached in this thread, until Tom removed it
  8. Did Avira stop all of it?
  9. http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/6f75596...038a-1248617669 It's really not a good idea to leave an infector posted in a public area of a forum
  10. When you have been charging a customer 50$ for a one year liscense, it's kind of hard to admit something got past you and the customer loses everything anyway. Just one example, nothing personal against Norman Obviously written by spin doctoring marketing not programming
  11. It would be nice if MBAM logs reported whether someone was using safe mode
  12. That comment was made on the issue of removing system files as a false positive, not the topic of this thread
  13. Congratulations on such a great program With Limewire in number 5, I am sure demand will stay high.
  14. Did you go thru the complete checklist? http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=17605
  15. At another forum where spam has been a big problem in the past, we have a few rules that help. Please ensure posts are meaningful No crossposting Members with less than 10 posts cannot post new private messages I am used to seeing a new member post a score of semi meaningful posts, some may be helpful, after a while they drop a spam sig in.
  16. The naming mechanism must rely on P2P sources, interesting
  17. Full scan can pick up infections saved in restore points and quarantine and infectors archived, altho it's better to use an antivirus for the latter. So it's useful from time to time, but hardly routine.
  18. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/I...M.exe-2344.html That's pretty much my motto with everything, so I am bad one to ask.
  19. Do you run disk cleanup and keep at least 20% free space on your hard drive? Do you see the same problems when sandbox is disabled?
  20. You should still post the autoruns, I see a lot of stuff that could go, Advanced gave you good advice on that. Ram only helps so much, still a heavy load for an old laptop with slow cpu and hard drive
  21. @yardbird don't worry how much ram does this thinkpad have?
  22. A more efficient approach for non malware problems is to use a simpler program to get started Please download and run Processexplorer http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb896653.aspx Under file and save as, create a log and post here copy and paste into a reply
  23. http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...ic=8409&hl= Interesting google results on this one
  24. maximum number of secrets Removing of does little Searches on all other forums tested work but not here Thanks
  25. ComPlus Applications. This folder contains files used by ComPlus applications. If there are no ComPlus applications installed on your XP machine, this folder will be empty. COM+ builds on the Microsoft Component Object Model (COM) integrated services and features, making it easier for developers to create and use software components in any language, using any tool. I would suggest restoring it
