  1. No, I'm just sick and tired of messing with this annoying mess. Seriously, pretty much the only reason I even use Malwarebytes anymore is I have four lifetime licenses. There is no way I would pay annually for the mess it has become.
  2. Unfortunately, I'm still getting the misbegotten nag notices. I swear, Malwarebytes is getting to be malware!
  3. The details will get you every time. I've deleted the annoying thing and now, time will tell if that worked. Thank you.
  4. Your path is wrong. When I go to C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes, the next folder is Anti-Malware which doesn't contain mbamservice. I can't find instlrupdate anywhere in that last folder. I'm using Win 7, if that makes a difference.
  5. Where the heck is the installer located so I can delete the blasted thing? I'm about ready to drop Malwarebytes because it has become so darned intrusive and has too many false hits. Another question: when I turn off Application Updates, will that also turn off definition updates?
  6. This is the one I'm still getting. I was getting another one but, at least, I don't get it anymore.
  7. Actually, it turns out it didn't work. it reduced the frequency somewhat but I'm still getting the obnoxious things.
  8. Rather drastic but that did the job. I made an entry on my calendar to check later to see if there are any reported problems. Thanks!
  9. Is there any way to reduce the frequency of the popups nagging me to upgrade to the latest program version? In the past, I have encountered program and OS updates/upgrades that sometimes were buggy as a flophouse bed (Malwarebytes Premium is no exception) so I now always wait a while before downloading and installing. The frequent popups I've been getting are annoying! Once or maybe twice a day is more than enough. Several times an hour is unnecessary and inexcusable!
  10. Keep trying. It took half a dozen or so tries before I finally got the misbegotten thing to stop.
  11. How the big fat hairy heck do I shut off Malwarebytes? I hit the Quit button but the blasted thing keeps coming back on it's own; the antimalware program has become malware! I also had automatic updates shut off but the stupid program must have turned them back on. Malwarebytes has been having problems with updates since version 2 came out. Hire some competent software engineers!
  12. Well, aren't you just a ray of sunshine. First, there are numerous reasons for someone not wanting to upgrade to Win 10, such as hardware and software incompatibilities, discontinued features (the loss of Windows Media Center and gadgets—my UPS uses a gadget for monitoring operation—were the final clinchers for me), concerns over security and privacy, forced updates that brick some computers and render some software and hardware useless, etc. Unless you are offering to pay for everyone's new software and hardware needed every time a Win 10 update comes out, you have no business demanding anyone to upgrade to something they may not want. Second, Malwarebytes claims to be compatible with other AVs. See https://blog.malwarebytes.com/malwarebytes-news/2016/12/announcing-malwarebytes-3-0-a-next-generation-antivirus-replacement/, Particularly this line: "But rest assured, we continue to support compatibility if you choose to use a third-party antivirus or other security software alongside Malwarebytes 3.0." Finally, just because you have had excellent luck with Malwarebytes 3 with your hardware/software configuration does NOT mean everyone's hardware and software configurations are also going to work as well, or even at all, so back off!
  13. I've had at least two dozen restarts since I last wrote and Malware Protection has been on after everyone so I'm going to call this problem solved. Thanks for your help! Jeannie
  14. Right now, my computer is acting like a sick child. You know, the one who acts like s/he is at death's door and has a raging temperature but, once you have rushed her or him to the doctor, starting acting healthy as a horse with no fever. I just did a half dozen reboots, which takes a while because the Marvel chip on the MOBO and the HBA card also have to boot up, and, now that I want the Stupid Malware Protection Module to fail, it won't (mutter, mutter, mumble, mumble). I'll try again another time when I'm not otherwise occupied.
  15. Thanks for replying. As I said in the title of the thread, it's the Malware Protection that fails to turn on every now and then when rebooting (what makes this problem "fun" is it's intermittent although it has improved somewhat). I'm in AZ. We don't bother with the DST nonsense (polite term) so we are essentially in the PST zone right now. I installed the memory cleaner quite a while back because of a memory leak issue I never was able to track down. It helped but it never fully corrected the problem so I set up my computer to reboot itself every few days to wipe the slate clean. My firewall (set to "paranoid") never reported the memory cleaner trying to upload or download anything. I always do "expert" installs to make sure a program doesn't try to sneak in a PUP (then also have Unchecky installed for insurance in case I miss a really sneaky one). I just now uninstalled the memory cleaner to see if it was still needed or not. It's curious that the memory cleaner and Spybot S&D never caused problems with MBAM (or anything else) until I upgraded to Malwarebytes 3 recently.
  16. It did it again. The computer did its scheduled reboot overnight and Malware Protection was turned off when I got up this morning. This is ridiculous! Now what?
  17. I finally got the blasted thing activated. I had been using the single line "key" that was in the mb-licenseinfo.txt file that was put onto my desktop after I closed the dead removal tool window. Since everything else associated with the idiot removal tool seemed to be messed up, I double checked my list of licenses and discovered the license is actually in two parts. Even then, I had to try entering the license ID and key a couple of times to get the license to "take". Now it's hurry up and wait to see if the Malware Protection will stay on after the computer reboots itself a few times (my computer runs 24/7; I have it set to shut down and reboot Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3AM).
  18. I apologize. I thought I was dealing with MBAM personnel. I downloaded and ran the removal tool. Upon reboot, I checked yes top download and install MBAM to the default folder. That was ten minutes ago and the popup window had not changed. I gave up and closed it. mb-clean-results.txt Edit: I'm really unhappy now. I rebooted again to make sure the uninstaller wasn't lurking in the background then downloaded MBAM 3, installed and tried to activate it with my license. I tried both copying and pasting the license into the box and manually entering it into the box but the box to activate remains grayed out. What the heck?
  19. There is something goofy about the directions you sent me. In Step o1, you stated: "If you don't have Malwarebytes 3 installed yet please download it from here and install it." If I didn't have MBAM 3 already installed, would I be complaining about malware protection frequently being disabled when I reboot my computer and have to exit MBAM and restart it to re-enable it? In Step 02, the directions say to copy the content of the log file to the reply post. The forum software won't let me do that. I attached it below along with the other files you requested. When the computer rebooted, Malware Protection was disabled again. Again, I had to quit MBAM and restart it to get Malware Protection turned back on. Also, why would malware cause this problem when MBAM is supposed to block or find and remove it? In post number 3, I had already posted the results you are seeking in step 03 in your latest post. I went ahead and ran it again and attached the new results below. I hope I don't have to wait 24 to 48 hours for a response. I've been getting the runaround since Monday when I first posted here. This is getting ridiculous. Exported Summary.txt AdwCleaner[C0].txt FRST.txt
