  2. Here are the requested files. I bought Malwarebytes Premium for 2 years for 2 PC's as a thank you, and besides, clearly I need it. Jeff Rkill.txt mbst-grab-results.zip
  3. Hello, Today I was reading news articles linked from MSN I think using the Microsoft Edge browser and while reading one I got a pop up that exclaimed my PC was broken and that I needed to do something all the while a stead tone was screaming through my PC speakers. I didn't fall for it and did not click the OK or do whatever they wanted me to do next, I just closed the browser. I ran Malware bytes and another popular spyware finder and neither found anything. Then I opened my task manager to see what I could find was running that might surprise me and found this process. I don't recall it ever being there before but I cannot be sure of that. Then I opened Edge again then re-opened the task manager and looked at the detail for Edge and some of what I found does not look good to me. The only tab opened at this time was Gmail, that is all. My PC is not misbehaving in any way. I don't perceive any bad stuff going on but if any of this is nefarious, I would like to remove it. Thank you for your assistance! Jeff
  4. This is the affected programs after restore:
  5. Everything seems to be fine. If I do a system restore to a time yesterday before I did the fix, is it possible browsing history will be restored?
  6. The annoying pushwhy notices stopped back around within a few days of when I started this thread, but I went ahead and did the fix. Everything is still fine. Really wish I had my tabs back, that will be a setback, hope you can point me to where I will find those.
  7. Sorry for the delay, requested file is attached. The process deleted all my browsing history, and the tabs open in my browser, the tabs were sort of reminders for me of the items I was working on. I didn't expect they would be deleted when I ran the fix. Did any of the logs I created save those Chrome tabs? Fixlog.txt
  8. Yes, I traveled for a few days. I will complete your request today or tomorrow. Thank you.
  9. Hello, Yesterday morning upon reboot of my PC my virus software Avast detected that it blocked a connection to pushwhy.com. Upon researching that issue here and finding these steps: I have performed steps 1, 2 and 3 and attached all files. Then following these steps: I found that I was not logged in to Chrome, I had to log in to turn off sync, to which I did. Then when I try to perform this step: my chrome browser goes to this page and just sits there with no results: https://www.google.com/settings/chrome/sync/?hl=en-US Going further, Settings > Appearance has new tab selected. For manage search engines, I removed all but Google. ON start up shows continue where you left off. I will report back if more and await instruction. Thank you. 11. Sounds like it. How do I prevent stuff like this? I don't visit bad neighborhoods ever, yet this happens, infrequently, but it does nevertheless.
  12. Aura. Thank you for your patience, I returned from my vacation and ran FRST. The 2 files you requested are attached. Jeff Addition.txt FRST.txt
  13. Thank you, Aura, As I mentioned in my OP, I am leaving town today returning Sunday, so I won't be taking action and posting before Monday about any further efforts or steps I take, but look forward to ensuring this is resolved. While I awaited a reply, I did take one step, I used your JRT. The results of this are attached in the JRT.txt file generated by the tool. SInce this may alter your advice, I wanted to let you know what I did. The problems I was experiencing (pop ups and other ads) have seemed to go away but I also know this might be temporary and so I want to be certain I am clean. Thank you, Jeff JRT.txt
  14. Today I noticed some aggressive pop up ads on my PC, mostly on google results, once they displayed all over your forum. I have attached an image with them pictures. The right is the pop out, the left is the ad that displays above or below sponsored ads and other places. This is in the Google Chrome browser. I ran Malwarebytes and Super Anti Spiware and they did not find anything. I run them both regularly. Can you help me? I leave town tomorrow at around noon until Sunday, just so you know if I do not reply during that time. Thank you.
  15. Here is the log file in case there is something in it you need. Thank you. AfterCleanMalwarebyte3Scan.txt

  17. I uninstalled java, did not re-install any new version, I will see if anything I use needs it. I uninstalled KMPFaster & KMPlayer I rebooted PC, there were updates it took care of at that time. I completed the last part of your plan as quoted above, downloaded fixlist.txt and ran FRST64.exe I attached Fixlog.txt Thank you, Ron! Fixlog.txt
  18. I suspect the KMPFaster was loaded without my knowledge when I intentionally loaded KMPlayer. I will consider if I need KMPlayer in the future, in the mean time I uninstalled them both. I will now undertake the remainder of your plan, downloading the fixlist.txt and running FRST64.exe (I am running a 64 bit version of Windows 10.
  19. Yes, I will proceed with your instructions in your last post in a couple hours. Thank you, Ron.
  20. Thank you again, Ron. I quarantined then removed what "Malwarebytes 3" found in its scan. Log attached. Ran JRT, log attached. FYI, it found and deleted something I use a lot and put there, jing [Successfully deleted: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\\Jing (Registry Value)] Is this a bad software? Ran AdwCleaner, log attached. Ran Sophos, nothing found. Ran FRST64.exe again, new FRST.txt and Additions.txt logs attached. Hope those bad boys are gone!
