  1. I downloaded and installed the free Malwarebytes v.144 this morning on an WinXP-Pro desktop pc. After the installation and initial scan, I closed down Windows and re-started. After re-starting WinXP, I clicked on the Malwarbytes desktop icon, and received the following error message: "An error occured. Please report the following error code to the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware support team." "Error Code: 703 (0, 14)" Used the "clean-up" software after un-installing MWB, turned off Kaspersky 2010 (and everything else) at start-up before a fresh re-install attemped. Same error message appears. Can someone please interpret?? Thank you.
  2. There are other ways to accomplish backup & restore, but most of us have "disk maintenence" software such as System Mechanic
  3. First, adding toolbar icons would be a "CHOICE", just like with ALL add-ons. Second, your database filter could delete "repeaters" and many other things, while retaining the truley "bad" stuff out there that is reported.Somehow I think that millions of users could cover a little more ground any staff of "trusted researchers and sources". I have come across MANY questionable sites that MAM misses - you know, the ones that say, "You need to add the latest Media Player plug-in!" MAM is GREAT software and I'll never be without it again!!! ... but the MAM database LACKS A LOT of sites distributing malware!! A LOT!!! Again, it would be an "OPTION"!!!! ... and I don't know what security software you are using, but almost every single one offers THE OPTION to put USEFUL buttons on the toolbar ... whether it be the "Virtual Keyboard" in Kaspersky, Norton, PC Tools, or whatever. Both you guys make it sound like it's takes some kind of BIG EFFORT to add, remove, or change toolbar buttons!!! Jeeeeesh!!
  4. One of the BIG problems I can see with reporting "Questionable Sites", malware, etc ... is that you have to come back HERE! Every software I install has some option to install and customize buttons on the browser toolbar!! ... Why not include this feature in the Malwarebytes "pay-for" version too??? Just think of how simple it would be to report sites or attach files with just a click of a button on the toolbar!!!!! ... plus it would be "anonymous" and fast. No reason not to have it. Thanks for listening.
  5. Ya' know, I must have been insane to have ever gone surfing - or even used the search engines without have Malwarebytes running!!! Anyway, I have run across a few "questionable" websites that didn't trigger a Malwarebytes warning ... you know, the ones that ask you to download the latest plug-in for "Media Player", Quicktime, etc.!! Does Malwarebytes want these sites reported?? ... and if so, would someone be so kind as to post a web address! Thanks!
  6. Thanks for the reply! Still, there should be no reason not to have access to this folder from the MBAM interface. Oh well, I'll just create a shortcut to it. I hope the mouse-over function will be improved though. Cheers!
  7. After using MBAM for a whole 3 days (although I'll NEVER be without it again!), may I suggest the 2 following additions to the "paid" version: 1) A "log" (.txt file?) kept in the MBAM folder ... or better yet ... an additional tab added to the MBAM interface that could be viewed to see what "infected" sites had been visited in any browsing session (or maybe within any calendar day?) - including the time, date, and web address of the attempted access. As it is now, a warning window pops up, which only contains an IP address - which really isn't enough. A simple "reporting" or "history" file would be a much welcomed addition. 2) After MBAM is running, if you "mouse-over" the MBAM icon in the tray, all you see is a balloon displaying the title of the software. Why not be like many other applications and make the mouse-over "USEFUL" by adding a second or third line below the software title??? For instance ... In "Line 2" have the second line display the last time and date the user updated the MBAM database. (see example graphic below). This way, launching the progarm or right-clicking on the icon and choosing "Check For Updates" would NO LONGER BE NECESSARY, and it would prove to be a real time-saver!! ... also resulting in less "requests for updates" traffic on your server too!! Just my 2 cents. Thanks for listening.
  8. Purchased "MBAM" 3 days ago and I CAN'T BELIEVE I EVER WENT ONLINE WITHOUT IT!! Geeeeeeeeeze!!! Last night I did a search on Google, and it's unbelievable how many sites tried to install malware (at least the MBAM alarm window popped up) for JUST VISITING!! I wonder why my "high-end" internet suite didn't catch it too? Anyway, I have 2 questions: 1) After my first "full" MBAM scan, this is the only warning that came up: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\regfile\shell\open\command|Bad: (NOTEPAD.EXE %1) Good: (regedit.exe "1%") Obviously, it has to do with "Notepad", but I don't know what to do to correct it. I have no problem altering a registry key if that's necessary ... but I would need to know which one - with a written example. I just don't want to place it on the "Ignore" list, without addressing the vulnerability exposed by MBAM's warning. 2) Is there any log (.txt file?) kept in the MBAM folder that I could view to see what "infected" sites I had visited in any browsing session?? ... or maybe within the past 24 hours? If not, a simple "reporting" file in the "paid" version would be a nice addition! Thanks!
  9. Excuse me, but if you are referring to "Kaspersky Internet Security 2010", BOTH you guys are 100% WRONG!!!Kaspersky 2010 protects against ALL malware including, Viruses, Spyware, RootKits, Trojans, and on and on!! I'm the newbie here, but I HIGHLY suggest you go to: http://usa.kaspersky.com/products_services...p?icid=50000028, read up, ... AND THEN RE-ANSWER THIS FELLOW'S QUESTION because I was going to ask the same question!! Thanks.
